Hi Simon83,
The majority of our customers don't go above 3GB a month. The thing with bandwidth is; the more that's used, the more we have to pay BT.
In short, the more you download, the higher the cost of providing the service to you. If you were to download hundreds of gigabytes per month, it would cost us in the hundreds of pounds per month to provide that service to you. We would need to increase the price we charge everyone to subsidise the activities of the few very heavy users. We believe that everyone should pay in line with what they use.
With regard to usage allowances, you'll find that virtually all ISPs have usage allowances. Even the ones who claim to offer an "unlimited" service have fair usage policies that restrict the activities of high users. Some of these policies are reputed to be so severe that even average downloaders have had their services restricted. We believe that an entirely transparent policy is the better solution.
Kind regards,

Hey Samara
I've just got a Netgear wireless routerfrom AOL, first month free, £45 cashback through Quidco, and £9.99 for the rest of my time with AOL. It's a 1MB connection but it does play 500k streaming video very well.
I wish all companies would be as competitive as AOL

After much research, I have signed up with Madasafish. I phoned customer care and was greeted by a very nice lady who was very patient and I didn't have to wait either or go through upteen menus. After being with Wannado this long it was a joy. To get to speak to a customer service adviser or get email help from Wannado , I would have had more chance of seeing Lord Lucan riding on the back of the Loch Ness Monster.0

Hi Crabman,
I am pleased that you've found an ISP that you're really happy with and it ticks all the right boxes for you!
I think that's really the bottom line!
Have a great weekend!
Kind regards,

BT have very clear download limits. They have 4 different services, 2GB, 6GB, 20GB and 40GB. They are also clear in their terms what they will do if you go over your limits constantly..........(quote)
26 The service has a usage guideline, which sets out the amount of information you are allowed to transfer each month. These are 2GB for Option 1, 6GB for Option 2, 20GB for Option 3 and 40GB for Option 4. If you constantly go over these amounts, we may upgrade you to another BT broadband service that is better suited to your usage, charge you for your extra usage or end your agreement. We will give you one month's notice if we take any of these actions.
Your claim for 200GB a month with BT is very hard to believe. Earlier this year, they disconnected approx 4000 accounts because they were consistently going over 100GB a month. If you were downloading this much constantly, you would have been in that number.
BT is pulling the plug on around 4,000 broadband hogs because of "excessive usage". The giant telco reckons these punters - who make up less than 0.2 per cent of the firm's 2.3m broadband users - are consistently hoovering up more 100 gig each a month
BT is tightening up rules governing usage limits for its retail broadband service. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Thanks for choosing Madasafish!
The testing period is for the first 10 days of your connection. We recommend that you leave your router on during this time (you don't need to have the computer on, just the router).
During the first 10 days we're testing your line to see what the fastest stabile speed possible for your line is. During this time you may get speeds that are slower than expected and in some cases, disconnections. If on day 11 you're still getting speeds slower than you had expected, please get in touch with us and we'll do our best to get you better results.
Kind regards,
Samara
Hi Samara,

66kb - You
512kb - Broadband
1Mb - Broadband
2Mb - Broadband
4Mb - Broadband
8Mb - Broadband
The speed is still really slow.

Hi Scally,
Could you please PM me your username and I'll investigate! Could you please also include in your PM the operating system that you're using and the hardware?
Also, I wrote an article that I keep posted on ADSL Guide which is a guide to troubleshooting speeds up to 8Mb. Could you please have a look at it and see what questions you can answer? ie. Do you have a microfilter fitted to every phone socket that is in use in your home? Are you connected to the master socket, etc..
Many thanks!
Kind regards,

Hi Samara,
I just want to say a huge thank you to you and your team. Someone called this morning from madasafish and talked us through ways of making the connection speeds more like what they should be.
Now i've got speeds of 5.64Mb, which is a huge improvement.
For anyone looking for a new isp i would highly recomend madasafish. The customer support is exceptional, and they genuinly care that their customers are getting what the website says they should expect.
Thank you

Can you tell us what you did at your end to increase your speed from 66kb to 5.46Mb?
Did you simply re-connect the router? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
