  • Hi Bikersal,

I agree with what you're saying and I'd like to take the opportunity to review the phone calls so that we can see what happened. I do appreciate if you do not want to share your username with me for reasons of our internal auditing process.

BT Wholesale and BT retail operate independent of one another - so if it is a line fault we would go through the normal procedure, however sometimes it helps to have a fresh pair of eyes fully review the notes and look at all the line stats to see if there are any avenues that haven't been explored yet.

Please know though that if you do want my help with anything I'm more than happy to assist and you know where to find me.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

  • Hi Samara

I'm reluctant to advertise my username on the forum. However, it does seem rather strange that as of yesterday my speed has suddenly reached 2.02mb which is a record speed achieved in the last 11 months! Fingers crossed it lasts as quite happy with this speed.

I've also reviewed my history and I've only gone over the 1GB download limit once in the last 6 months so I'm not a heavy user. It's when it breaks up I get frustrated particularly as I was made redundant in November and have needed to access job sites. Hopefully the job problem will hopefully be resolved by the end of this week.

Kind regards and keep up the good work!

  • Hi Bikersal,

If you need to you can private message me at any time. You can do that by clicking on my username and then scrolling down to the option of sending me a PM. I never make customer details sent to me via PM public.

I am pleased that your service is behaving better - and if you're outside of your 12 month contract with us please note that you can always get a better deal on your services with us - just drop me a PM ;)

    Kind regards,
    Samara

  • Would I be correct in assuming that due to the lack of further posts from Myke UK that his problem was either AOL or at his end?

    Hi samara,
just checking on whether any progress has been made on the deals you said would be coming along soon? I appreciate the reduced monthly fee on my account but it is still a lon way off both from a usage and financial point when set against talktalk. I would like to sort this out soon so would appreciate it if you could let me know.

Does anyone here have a problem with the D link wireless USB adapter(dongle) that was sent free with their broadband kit a few months ago(i joined July last year?) For a while i have had to sometimes remove it from the cradle and plug back in to get it going. But just recently i have had real problems getting it to work at all,or if I do it goes off again for no reason. Is it the actual signal that is it at fault do you think or the dongle? Just wondered if someone could throw some light on it before i approach madasafish

I would like to say a huge public "Thankyou" to Samara for her prompt action in sending me a replacement dongle.Mine went dead on me last night and even the kiss of life could not reveive it!!

7.30 am this morning there was a knock on the door and there was a Royal Mail chap with my new dongle. :j As you can see by the time,it is already up and running.I have been suffering with a gum abscess which has given me severe pain the last 2 days so i desperately need a distraction from the relentless pain!!

Samara you are a star :T
  • Hi Tabath,

  • Samara,

I'd appreciate advice on my line speed. From time to time I run tests on speedtester.bt.com and also on madasafish. I always expect a higher speed from bt as I guess it's testing without server/routing loading. The history on my madasafish account shows that in March/April 2007 I was getting around 4.5 Mb/s downstream.

I haven't felt it necessary to run any tests until recently and discover I'm now down to a much lower performance. For instance in the last few minutes I've had the following results:
    BT 3.627 Mb/s
    Mad 1.81 Mb/s
I also see the the BT test shows my IP profile is set to 4.0 Mb/s and the DSL downstream connection rate is 6.080Mb/s.

I've not made any changes to PC, software, router or wiring. Is there anything I should try to restore my downstream performance?

    Thanks
    Nice to save.
  • I'm an AOL Silver Customer (2meg service).
BT tell me my line can support up to 3megs.
I get 384kbps-448kbps all day and night (yip even at 4am on a tuesday morning).

Would changing from a ADSL product to a ADSL MAX or LLU product on a higher service (like "up to 8megs") show more "ompfh" and push up my speeds to something more respectible?

I'm not looking to continue with AOL. I'm not sure if Madasafish operates in my exchange in Carrickfergus (Northern Ireland) though.

Any tit-bits you could maybe help me with I'd really appriciate.
    Thanks.
