Good grief, and I'm complaining about a drop to 2.5meg!! Is there a pattern developing here since good old Brishit Telecom took over?

Certainly does seem to be a trend.....My speeds have varied from over 5.5mb which has been steady in October to in November varying from 5.5 mb down to .49mb to 2.5mb to 5 mb and is tonite down to 4.somehting.....
And don't blame it on the weather....it does not use railway tracks to work!

I notice also no response from Samara........???????

Got back from holiday to find that the internet connection had dropped out.
Reconnected and got 3.7 Mbps, which promptly fell to 1.8Mbps, spend the next 6 weeks through September & first half of October bumbling along at 1.8Mbps.
Then speed improved to 3.7 Mbps and has been there ever since.
It looks like my days of 4.7Mbps are over but I'm still getting a reasonable speed.

  • Having just looked online we have seen that Madasafish have taken £46 from my wifes account withoutautherisation. Its not on a D/D, we used it to make a payment a bit back and they have just used it agian without permission form either of us!

I repeat, taken money from a bank account without a D/D or any permision fomr the acocunt holder.

This took us overdrawn and made the next debit (taken the same day) take us even further overdrawn. Now we have 2 lots of £35 charges thanks to Madasafish.

I'm glad I have decided to leave them.

  • Speed changes

Hi Samarra - I have also been experiencing the speed changes detailed here by others - used to connect at 4 all the time, now lucky to get over 2 with disconnections every day. I can tell you that it started the day after the broadband service went down on madasafish and we all had to reconnect. Phoned the help desk but just got the usual filters etc answer.

Surely it is too much of a coincidence
  • Hi Guys,

I took a long four day weekend to get some sewing done for Christmas - wow – did it get busy in here when I was away! I’ll do my best to answer everyone’s queries! ;)

I got an e-mail stating they were part of the BT group now! Are we going to get a speed issue during the day as BT customers apparently do? I certainly hope not!

And another thing I was wondering, I have read of BT customers being able to get a free laptop for staying with BT ( I could be wrong of course!) Are Madasafish customers going to be able to get this as well, being as we are now part of the BT group?

Hi Reubo – existing Madasafish customers are staying on the existing Madasafish network. We are not sharing a network with BT retail.

At this time I’ve not heard anything about a free laptop offer with Madasafish. If there was enough demand for it, I’m sure that we could see what we could come up with – but please note that these deals are often associated with really mega long contractual obligations. As a consumer myself, I’m really hesitant to any contract that is longer than 12 months.

Oldagetraveller – I’ll have a look at your account today to see what I can find out. We’ve not made any changes to our network or infrastructure.

I have just read on here that Madasafish are now part of the BT group. I have been with Madasafish for over 12 months and haven't had any notification of this. Will it affect the cost or service?

Hi Toronto – we sent out an email on 02 August 2007 with the news that BT bought Brightview group. The subject line was “Change in ownership for Brightview Group Limited”. Not to worry – the cost of service isn’t going to change (although if you’re outside of a 12 month contract PM me your username and I can see what I can do to lower your monthly subscription rate in exchange for a new 12 month contract). I fully do not anticipate for there to be any changes to the quality of our services. Existing customers, such as yourself, will remain on our existing network infrastructure.

We went Broadband about 18 months ago …. We are actually a low Broad Band user and I do think now part of BT Group we should get some offers. There are some better deals out there!

Hi Grannyboon, if you’ve been with us for 18 months we can definitely do you a better deal. Could you please PM me your Madasafish username?

So far i'm very pleased with the service. I have just brought a PS3 and was wondering if i can get online gaming with my current package/ router. I am not wireless by the way.

Hi Anthony, I’m pleased that you’re pleased J You can indeed use the PS3 online gaming with our services. I’m not certain what router your using – but if it’s got an Ethernet port on it, you could run an Ethernet cable from the PS3 to the router.

Drunkstar – I’m really sorry that you’ve not had a good time with us. I’m going to see if I can find your account and get this sorted for you. I’ll PM you if I need more information.

Hi Neil40 & Boatman – could you please PM me your Madasafish username along with your router model, and confirmation that you’re connected via the master socket and that you’ve got 1 microfilter fitted to each phone socket that is in use?

Sorry about that – I took a long 4 day weekend to do some Christmas sewing. :snow_grin

I’ve found your username from an old PM and I’ll look at your account today.

Hi Duncansby, could you please PM me your username and confirm that you’ve tested all your microfilters? If you have we’ll go from there!

For general knowledge (in case anyone is getting lower speed results or disconnections) here is how you test microfilters: unplug everything from all phone sockets in the house, test each filter from the test port from within your master socket by connecting to the Internet. If you get a substantially lower sync using one of the filters you’ve found your faulty one and it will need to be replaced.

Here is how you check your sync using the Voyager 210:

+ Click on the Advanced link in the blue menu bar on the left
+ When the screen refreshes click on the new Advanced link that appears in the white part of the screen
+ The blue menu to the left will expand and from here click on Status
+ From the drop down menu click on Broadband Line

In the results look for what's listed as Line Rate.

Here is how you check your sync using the DLink:

    Browse to 192.168.1.1
Click on Status along the top
Click on ADSL on the left hand menu
the info interested in is SNR, Line Attenuation and Data Rate (this is sync rate)

I’m back now please feel free to keep posting or PM me with any queries and I’ll get back to you quickly!

    Kind regards,
    Samara

  • I may have posted this on the wrong forum.

Just how long does it take to get the referral money credited? I persuaded a friend to subscribe and then went round to help him get it fitted up about 3 weeks ago and my account does not show anything at all.
  • Hi Twhitehead,

Thank you for recommending our services.

To see the pending referral amount please sign in to "My Account" at www.madasafish.com. Once you're logged in, click on the My Refferals tab. You'll see your referal amount appear there in a blue link (even if it's £0.00). If you click on that amount it will bring you through to a page that has a breakdown of your referral history and your pending referral should appear there.

Please keep me posted if it's not appearing in that area and I'll make sure that you get credited accordingly :o

    Kind regards
    Samara

Thanks Samara, I'm turning into a stuck record!
Something must have been changed somewhere? The situation now seems to be that BT are saying it's my ISP and my ISP are saying alls well at their end.
I'll repeat again - up to mid September I was getting consistent 4.3meg downloads. It was even the same if I plugged into an extension socket. It fell gradually to my present consistent 2.6meg. BT have been to my property and state that the line will only take 3.5meg max (which I'm not getting anyway). This cannot be correct as I had 4.3meg for 5 months. On the day of their visit (21/11) the BT speedtester was showing 3500kbs the day after it was dropped to 3000kbs where it is now. So I suspect there was a change made at BT's end to coincide with the visit.
I realise my speeds still aren't that bad compared to what some are achieving but nobody seems to want to or is capable of answering my question about the gradual drop and why it has happened - I still blame BT.
I've tried 3 micro filters, no difference and have been plugged into the test socket now for three weeks in spite of knowing it's not my internal wiring, see above.
