Hi there,
My 12 month contract with Madasafish is about to end soon. While I'm happy with Madasafish - though never get anywhere near 8MB as they said, 3.2MB maximum for me - I really don't like being charged for surpassing the 5GB limit. Do you guys know if Madasafish would give me some incentives like more download capacity or what? 'Cause if not, I'll definitely move to another provider.
Speaking of which, I'm thinking of Talk Talk 3 or AOL or Sky, do any of you here know which one is the best among them?
Many thanks indeed!
Samara
I'm coming up to the end of my second year with Madasafish & debating changing for the same reasons as the above poster. Can you see what incentive you can offer me to stay with Madasafish?
Thanks Madcow0 -
Hi Madcow,
Could you please PM me your Madasafish username? I'd be more than happy to have a review of your account.
Thank you
Kind regards,

Hi Samara
I 'phoned customer care several days ago to request a MAC code, which the CS person supposedly generated there and then and was advised that I would receive this via email, once this month's payment was received. You have received this payment but I haven't got my MAC code. I 'phoned customer care and was told (after nearly 11 minutes of "holding the line" ) that you needed to contact BT as there was a problem removing the tag from the line and once you had spoken to them you would call me back. Why did I not receive notification of this supposed problem? I'd like this dealt with quickly as I have no intention of paying for another month.
Suggestions please
Seem CS is good until you want to migrate, then .............0 -
Hi Dragonfly,
When you call in for a MAC we submit the request to BT there an then. Usually it only takes BT about 24 hours to get it back to us. edit: sometimes this can take a few days.
Once we receive one on behalf of the customer an automated email is triggered off to that customer which will include the MAC and it's expiry date.
Sometimes we don't always receive the MAC back via the automated system and in those instances there is a manual process that we need to go through; this is not the case for the majority.
Without looking at your account I'm not quite sure why you were given the advice that you had been given. But from my hunch it sounds like we've had to start the manual process of getting a MAC generated.
If you could please PM me your username I can have a closer look at this for you.
Kind regards,

Hi Samara,
Have been a MAAF broadband customer since June 2006: 11.99 for six months and 17.99 for six months - ie 15 quid a month over the life of the 12 month contract.
Renewal was obviously June 2007 - MAAF didn't mention it; you'd think for good customer service that MAAF might have mentioned it.
For July & August, I've been charged at 17.99.
When I queried this with MAAF (in August) I was told I'd been charged correctly - but when I pointed out that the cost over the 12 month contract was effectively 14.99, so July and August should be charged accordingly, your customer care either don't get it or are ignoring the point.
I'm not going to get worked up about six quid, and have even signed up for another 12 months at 13.99 with MAAF - but still - I'm not keen on inertia marketing techniques to raise revenue.

Hi Samara
I'm also currently on Madasafish MAX (5MB usage limit) a month and am considering an offer from Sky to move my phone and internet over to them (I already have a Sky package) - my 12 months with madasafish is up this month. I've been happy with Madasafish despite only ever reaching a 3Mb speed - I tend to go over my monthly limit a bit too so that is getting quite costly.
Are there any incentives for customers who extend their contract with yourselves past the first 12 months?
Thanks in advance...

Almost every supplier seems to do "inertia marketing"? The resulting churning must be costing the country a fortune.
Credit Cards do it, magazine subscriptions do it, book clubs do it, building societies do it, utility suppliers do it, Moneysaving expert encourages it and offers a tool to send yourself "tickler" messages, so you know when and how to do it.
Clever economists write papers on how to hoodwink the "numpties" of this world, making sure they don't do it and get the best deal.
I would much rather see the concept of the "deferred rebate" to encourage good loyal customers to stay; but then "numptie", who is cross subsidising the "tarts", would no longer be paying over the odds.
The thing that really gets up my nose is the probability that the process of switching will result in some sort of time wasting c0ck-up, through no fault of the customer's.
Harry.
PS I am currently enjoying an amazing muddle-up, featuring Scottish Power, EDF, NationalPower, Northern Electric and the company that cannot read a meter. Of these, the only parties who know what they are doing are Scottish Power and me. The upside is that I got a payment "holiday" of about 6 months, that is now slowly correcting itself. I will post the results on the appropriate thread, when it is finally resolved.0 -

Hi samara,
I have now resolved the speed problem I have been having for over the past 12 months with my broadband connection......
So now I want to know what package you are going to offer me to stay with Madasafish, for the next 12 months?
Bear in mind that I am not currently in a contract and am now on the lookout for a broadband package!!
And yes i am aware that AOL have a FREE LAPTOP deal on the go at the moment, and yes I do realise it is a 2 year contract....can you better the deal????!!!

Hi there,
1st entry to this site, so be nice : )
I've recently moved from ADSL broadband (madasafish) to cable broadband (virgin).
To sort out the closing the asdl account I telephoned Madasafish and told them to give me my MAC code and to cancel my account after the 28 day notice period i was required to give them expired.
I know that you don't need a mac code to migrate from ASDL to Cable, but this what they insist that you do on their website, so I followed their instructions and looked forward to not getting overcharged for going over the download limits with my new service with Virgin.
They then emailed me the mac code and I had my bt landline deactivated in my flat, and got virgin to install both telephone and cable internet services, and all was well with the world, my new internet connection was now a flying machine.
I am now getting red letters from madasafish saying that although i asked them to close my account, because I didn't use my mac code, my account is still open and i owe them 2 months charges for a service I don't actually have a landline to use.
I've written them a letter to tell them that i've cancelled my direct debit and that as far as i am concerned the account was closed 2 months ago, but they are insisting this isn't the case.
Any advice learned readers?
Thanks
