  • I got the £9.99 offer by the cancellation trick. I ordered the £14.99 silver package and after 3-4 days called them to cancel it and they reduced the price to £9.99 and "promised to increase it to 8MB after one month" I haven't tested the actual speed. But in general it is good and the frequent disconnection problem I had with MAAF is disappeard now.

In my heart of hearts I strongly suspect that you're still on the fixed rate speed of 2Mb, which is why you're not having the disconnection problem.
So the offer I got from your customer service is to de-grade the speed to 2MB from 8MB MAX. I think I PMed you at that time about my dissatisfaction over the arrogant way your staff talked to me to sell the idea of degrading the speed to a constant 2MB will improve the situation. If my memory is correct I tried everything your staff told me except the degrading but there was no good result.

I stand by our recommendation of you being on a fixed rate product of 2Mb, your line won't support speeds up to 8Mb without disconnections. I would strongly suggest that you stay on the fixed rate 2Mb product.

Unless we're talking LLU and a stringent Fair Usage Policy speeds up to 8Mb with unlimited bandwidth is not viable for £9.99 a month.

In any case, I think you did a good job getting them down on price and I'm glad that you've found an ISP who makes you happy.

    Kind regards,
    Samara

Perform a speedtest here to find out what package you are actually getting and post your result.

Help. I've signed up to madasafish and got today as my connection date. Set everything up and put in passwords - all okay so far it currently says

    Connection Status Refresh
Online Time 18 mins 0 secs
    Data Transmitted 330685 bytes
    Data Received 950865 bytes

The light on the voyager box for Internet is lit as are all the rest apart from Etheret.

However, when I try to browse I get

    Forbidden
    You were denied access because:
Access denied by access control list.

I get this on every site apart from typically my work e-mail. I can send and receive e-mail at the work address. Anything else I get the forbidden thing. I have had to dial up to post this message. When I dial up I can see the voyager page and it tells me 21.40 secs - so it has counted the time I have written this message.

What am I doing wrong? I don't want to be dialing up but it is the only way I can access sites other than work.

Try Tools, Internet Options, Connection tab, Check Never dial a connection.

You would be better using the Ethernet cable if possible.

I checked as you suggested and never dial a connection is already checked.

I haven't got an Ethernet connection on my computer.

Samara, I take your point regarding the router. I will look into it then.

As I am right near the limit of my monthly usage (4.83 gig) it is now a real pain to limit my surfing until the 1st of June. I would like to see a package that is halfway between the Max and the Max plus introduced, say 10 gig. Is something like this going to happen in the future?

Another thing, I joined Madasafish through Money Saving Expert but I didn't get my £1 a month reduction !

    Thanks.

    Ian.

I did this the speed skirts around 1.7 to 1.9 MB . So Samara is right I am still on 2MB. I will wait for another week as what AOL told me is that after one month they will increase the speed. I think I moved on to AOL on April-24. The first month was free from AOL and I think that may be the reason for the speed increase only after one month.

Anyway no worries as I got this BB for around £47.00 for one year

    (9.99 X 11 - 32.00(quidco) - 31.00 (ebayed the free router)

AAAAh - I've had a weekend of torture. I still can't connect to madasafish and now can't connect to dial up either. I spent about an hour on the phone to madasafish where the guy went through loads of things with me but ended up baffled. I'm now more concerned about the lack of dial up as I can't connect at all - message says no dial tone. The phone/phone/line/extension are all working. I could dial up on Fri - the only change is the madasafish stuff. I've un installed it and ran sytem restore but still can't connect.
  • Hi Misty,

Could you please PM me your Madasafish username and I'll investigate what's going on?

    Thank you!

Have you "unchecked" never dial a connection?
