Hi - Yes - I've tried that. I'm hoping it is going to take pity on me and spontaneously start working again.0 -

The problem is on your computer as you said in your first post that it was successfully connected to MAAF - Post #1115
Did you remove any previous ISP's stuff before trying to use MAAF?
Did you install the USB drivers on your computer before connecting the modem?
Ethernet is so much easier and better than USB!!! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I ‘fixed’ my wiring on Saturday. I also removed one extension, so now I only have 2 extensions connected to the Master socket as opposed to 3 previously. Current wiring is as follows:
Before I did the above changes my router stats were as follows:
Then after the changes, firstly at the Master socket (Diagram 2) I attached a filter directly to it and measured the different sync rates using various filters/cable (no other wiring/extensions were connected at this stage). And then again repeated at the extension (Diagram 3) with everything connected. Below is what I found:
As you can see the sync speed varied by as much as 500 kbps depending on the filter used and as much as 700 if you do a comparison on the worst filter connected via regular cable as opposed to the best filter connected via Cat 5 cable. The router was only connected for a minute for each test, before I logged in and recorded the stats. Although I did repeat a few of the tests and they showed more or less the same speeds.
So in the end I decided to connect up the Universal (No 2) filter at the extension in my living room to my router via Cat 5 cable and the stats when initially connected & now are as:
So I’ve increased my sync rate by 1312 kbps, from an initial 2944 kbps to 4256 kbps. Even thought my speed test results are showing around 2600 kbps, I'm assuming that I will get higher speeds when it corrects itself by tommorrow evening (3 days of sync rates of 4256).
What I found strange was that my sync speed was more or less the same irrespective if I connected directly at the Master socket (Diagram 2) with nothing else connected or if I connected at the extension (Diagram 3) with everything else connected. I was expecting a higher sync rate at the Master socket???
So with the above information, would it make any sense for me to get a filtered faceplate (THIS ONE) from adslnation? as I seem to be getting the same sync rate at the Master as I do at the extension?
And is there anything else I can do to tweak my sync/speed rates?0 -
My sync speed rose to 6.7 on Friday evening. Sat. and Sunday steadied at 5. This morning 1st thing was 5 then dropped to 1.8. Increased to 6.9 and now seems to have steadied at 6.3. The measured speed has remained at 1.4 throughout. Router has been "on" continuously although the 'phone cable was disconnected briefly today.
When I test using BTs speed tester there are two messages. 1. Configured download throughput is 1500k. 2. IP profile for your line is - 1500kps. What do these figures mean?0 -

IT'S WORKING HURRAY
t was connected to mf but not successfully!! As it would only let me access my work e-mail. I could then dial up and click connect to enter bb but then neither worked.
I've clicked and unclicked that many things since - I've lost count.
I would like to say a big thanks to everyone who offered a suggestion - it's unbelievably frustrating when things go wrong - and someone taking the time to try and help makes a difference.
Thanks to Samara for the reply and the PM. Your replies on this thread was one of the deciding factors choosing MasF.
My computer doesn't have a connection for Ethernet- but the next one def will0 -
I'm having some problems with my connection. It was fine when I started in October. However, in January I got wireless and ever since then my connection has been really slow - almost like dial-up.
I have to frequently repair the connection in order to get it to connect to anywhere, and it doesn't seem to like secure sites such as if I try to do internet banking or checkout from a store.
I'm not sure what the problem is - my boyfriend is able to connect ok with his laptop, but mine seem s to have the problem.
Is it a fault with my laptop, my connection, or the router? And why is my connection now so slow?
TIA!0 -
Hi, first time poster here so please be gentle.
I am with MAAF (No problems or complaints), I am looking to go wireless using Linksys WAG54GS gateway and WSUB54 adapter because of the speedboost function. Has anybody tried this combination on MAAF or am I wasting my time?
Any info greatfully received0 -
