Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. This includes wider debates about general house prices, the economy and politics. As a result, we have taken the decision to keep this board permanently closed, but it remains viewable for users who may find some useful information in it. Thank you for your understanding.

I'm sure MSE towers are aware of who is using AEs though, and has a log of it somewhere.;)
I can quite believe it, with all the posting you do, when would you find the time.0 -
Oh Pickles, I have plenty of time. I lost my job last week and have insomnia. But no, I have no AE. I prefer to annoy people as ME!!0

It's like a stuck record.
I don't see why people are that bothered where this board resides, in Discussion time or in Pure Money. What difference does it really make, apart from having to scroll down a bit on the Forums page? Invest in a 'wheel mouse' and it'll be a breeze.
I do agree that the Sockpuppet stuff is out of hand, it seems like people use accusations of 'sock puppetry' as a means to disrupt a debate. Someone makes a decent point, is supported by a like-minded individual and suddenly they're both accused of being the same person. Sorry, but two different people can have the same views you know. Even if someone uses sockpuppets, does it really matter? If !!!!!! is Wookster or ad44Downey is fatpig, what difference does it make to the debate? Also, as a relative newbie, it's annoying that until you get a couple of thousand posts to your name, you're instantly accused of being a 'sockie'.
From the little I've read about the history of this board (it started out as a single thread, became a sub-board and then a main board), it has always been in a state of flux, so moving it into DT surely won't disrupt things too much?
Oh, and while I remember, as far as I am aware, the IP address that is transmitted is usually that of the ISP. So if you use Tiscali, then MSE would receive the IP address for Tiscali and so thousands of people could have the exact same IP address."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -
IMHO we have debated house prices and the economy to death, which is why I haven't posted here in a while, it has all been said. When the upturn gets going we will have something new to talk about.[strike]Debt @ LBM 04/07 £14,804[/strike]01/08 [strike]£10,472[/strike]now debt free:j

Even if he is, (and personally, I doubt it very much) what difference would it make anyway?
I might be bearish, but I come on here to read all shades of opinion, and I couldn't care less if someone wants to call themselves 'Smellyferret' one minute and 'Jeanpaulsartre' the next. Arguments about sockies and all the rest of it just get in the way.
Ah, but it's that terrible British thing about 'fairness' isn't it? Not fair if the opposing team appears to have more members,or if they're all thanking each other and ganging-up on the opposition. Well, if they are, they're a deceitful bunch of thankers, but I still don't care that much; I want to hear what they have to say, whether there's one, or fifteen of them.
I'll forget it all in five minutes anyway.....;)0 -

As I have said before: practically, no difference really, philosophically, to acheive a pupose higher than bickering, to educate people that this stuff affects us and how, its a huge matter of importance: one that I see noone else, other than this board and its patient provider, doing.
I thought before the MSE powers that be didn't quite get this, from reading Martin's posts here now I think he does, but what it was when I was arguing for all the above and what it is now are very different. That so few new posters feel the want to join in is disappointing, but understandable. That so many people who have have drifted away, the same.0 -
I don't see the point in this sub forum really. It's dominated by a handful of people with very obvious agendas, so it fails in it's purpose."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0

I would say that anyone starting or regularly following threads on this forum has an 'agenda.' After all there's a million & one other things we could all be doing....
Come to think of it, what's yours?0 -

You change it if you movenot rocket science, but I do accept the problem with free users in Library etc maybe not having a primary email address.
