I thought DT was quite friendly, that Amistupid is good for a few thanks icon7.gif Loublue is nice as well, the footie thread is quite friendly as well considering there are a few shoulder chip wielding Liverpool fans on there.

I'm not saying it isn't nice, I'm sure it is! I'm saying they hve their cliques and historical references too. I think its natural. I'm confident they are kind enough to welcome new posters and that in time one would fit in, I think the same sort of happens here, eventually. I think we are meaner though :(

    How depressing

Read what you're writing people from about the 50th post onward

This is a thread about trying to make the board work

And all we have is accusations and counter accusations. It had started so well... I rarely say this - but grow up.

If you're thinking "i didnt start it" then you're wrong, you reacted. If you hadn't there wouldn't have been an arguement.

    How depressing.

Martin - I'd say, close the board down. I came on here and was warned off buying (for that I'm ever grateful!), and really used to enjoy it - but over the last 6 months this board has become a bickering childish pit for keyboard warriors.

Think it changed when it stopped being a sub-board and/or the remit was changed from just house prices.

No doubt will get flamed for saying this but don't care. It's just sad that the board isn't what it used to be - but thanks to those a year ago who warned me off from buying... you've saved me a load of money.

you'd probably need to re-read the posts because your answers are actually there - it's the lack of moderation and the ineffectiveness of your abuse team that are part of the problem.
no mention of that anywhere

this board doesn't really do anything for your image or marketing potential does it Martin?

Chucky, the reality is that this board is not, and probably should not, be a priority with the MSE team. It doesn't fit in with the core purpose of the site, and was added because users on the site wanted it.

But, it is like DT and the Arms. If this board was removed, it would not actually harm the main purpose of the site. Very few people have ever saved money as a result of this board. I think at its best it can claim to educate people, but meh... in many ways this is a board for off topic discussion.

spot on - it's not part of the MSE image.

the problem is it being set up in the first place. it was basically moving the nutters from the House Buying Forum. all that is being done now is moving/dividing them between Discussion Time and the House Buying Board again.

well said mate - the bearmongers here have saved many a person some real hard cash had they bought into houses a few years ago. too bad some idiots have treated the board like a private play pen.

Moneysavingmartin - take a hard line on the fools. misskool did a good job when she started kickin' tookus and takin' names.

    Maybe tomorrow, better today
