Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. This includes wider debates about general house prices, the economy and politics. As a result, we have taken the decision to keep this board permanently closed, but it remains viewable for users who may find some useful information in it. Thank you for your understanding.
We're aware that some users are experiencing technical issues which the team are working to resolve. See the Community Noticeboard for more info. Thank you for your patience.

spot on - it's not part of the MSE image.
the problem is it being set up in the first place. it was basically moving the nutters from the House Buying Forum. all that is being done now is moving/dividing them between Discussion Time and the House Buying Board again.
those nutters who said not to buy a house in 2007 cuz they were overpriced and goin to fall eh? Please somebody protect moneysavers from loonies like that!
Maybe tomorrow, better today0 -

This is a thread about trying to make the board work
And all we have is accusations and counter accusations. It had started so well... I rarely say this - but grow up.
If you're thinking "i didnt start it" then you're wrong, you reacted. If you hadn't there wouldn't have been an arguement.
How depressing.

Sorry, I don't see this at all.
There's been the odd accusation, perhaps, but overall we've been in agreement that the recent performance of the board has not lived up to its past. We've also reflected upon whether it is too cliqueyand compared with other board experiences. Some of us have also commented on how it has been useful on a personal level.
I would say that was generally following the brief, but maybe I'm so used to being here I can't see what's staring me in the face.
Light relief needed! Where's that Mewbie guy when you need him?0 -

I don't think its that depressing. A few grumps, sure, but a bit of humour, and lots of trying to reach an understanding of other PoV, which in evitably involves holding different views to start with! You've been as insulting to us or more as we have been to each other!0 -

Draped over a car, I think
ETA: this is an attempt joke reference to a post in recent history where fungus (the would be paramour of mewbie) made a cheeky comment about where he'd like to see mewbie. Both fungus and mewbie apear to be heterosexual male members of the forum and get on very well.Explanation for those who feel left out of in jokes.

It's an interesting comparison - the MoneySaving to be had from grubbing an extra Tesco coupon or a half priced day in Alton Towers, compared to tens of thousands of pounds buying into the top of a housing bubble. Problem is - there's not much advertising or publicity to be had on the back of it and it's not something concrete you say is really worth a set amount of money.
Personally, I like this board a lot, and the people who inhabit it. It's freer and more friendly than HPC - there's cut and thrust, and give and take.
Sorry - no joke this time.0 -
Hi Martin,
Another solution is to warn or ban the people who are causing the problem? We all know who they are.
Blame the poster not the board.0 -

How do you know all this? You only joined MSE a couple of months before I did, you have about 40 odd posts and yet you seem to know everything that has gone on in this forum. What's going on?
(I'm not having a go, but if there is a 'Letts Study Guide' style thread on the history of this forum and its posters, then I'd be up for a bit of cramming! I'm a bit behind all the in-jokes and history)"I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -

thanks Harry, you've just Martin's job for him - another multiple poster who uses different user names. joined in March but knows what happened 2 years ago on this board
Martin seems to be blaming the board members but is missing the point that his team are maybe not doing what is needed of them. that's on the assumption if this board is part of his master project.0 -

Agree with your sentiments.
Why not drop House Prices title from this board for a while? Most of the discussion now could be better had on the House buying / selling forum.0
