Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. This includes wider debates about general house prices, the economy and politics. As a result, we have taken the decision to keep this board permanently closed, but it remains viewable for users who may find some useful information in it. Thank you for your understanding.

thats why I use hotmail.:
never theless, its a good idea and worthy of consideration, IMO.
But the set up is a one off you don't use your email after that'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

It wouldn't worry me.
I have nothing other than hotmail set up, have no windows or the like on this machine. Wouldn't know how to do it. Wouldn't cry if it happened! There are not that many as technophobic as I so I don't think it would majorly impact on the site: might stop any who use internet via libraries though, with no access to their own networkArguably the very lowest incomes, who need the site most. Their are a majority of posters to this discussion board that do contribute to a lively informed debate. I for one would miss it. As I certainly have learnt a lot.
We should be able to accept different views and opinions without the debate degenerating.
We should do more to regulate ourselves more by not rising to the bait. Not responding to posts and automatically putting posters on ignore.
Does anybody else think that this could work?0 -

Yes although I cringe every tie I see someone write: ''I'm putting x on ignore''. Its a reat function, I resisted it for ages but now love it, but shouting about it is counter productive0 -
One thing I would say to the moderate majority...
Please don't respond. If you see an abusive comment. Rather than reacting - simply report it and leave it. While I know that's difficult, if people did that, and carried on with normal discussion we would actually have a much more smoothly running board.

very easy to say but even if you do report nothing is done - there are posters with 5 or 6 user id's that have been reported on a number of occasions by a number of users but nothing has been done.
i'll leave it to you to make your judgement it's your board.0 -

Martin, don't know if it's already been asked but can multiple usernames be stopped, it seems other forums I use are able to log IP's and ban people, either temporarily or permanently.0 -
MSE Martin,
One solution would be to empower the board to perform more in house censorship.
Could you not give some of the more reasonable posters board guide status / powers?
Regular frequenters do not have the power at present, and rely on just the one regular BG misskool.
Nipping any unwelcome debate in the bud early would help prevent deterioration in the threads.
