  • You are silly for not going with club seasons! I have just had my last holiday with club seasons. I 'won' in december last year and paid the £157 maintenance. Luckily it paid off. i have enjoyed two lovely holidays, a weekend in whitbarrow village and a week at brunston castle. I won't be paying next year because you can't have school holidays. But if you have a chance to go do take it up. the accomodation is gourgous (mind the spelling) and is well worth the money. i would only do it for the first year though and you only have to go to one talk. it isn't a scam and i will be writing on every website i can to tell people to go for it because it is money well spent. if any one wants photos pm me and i'll email them.

I beg to differ. Not going with clubseasons is a very sensible, & moneysaving thing to do. Not only will you save several hours of your life listening to 'presentations', you won't part with any money to fund the timeshare company.

  • It's £159 for 2 nice holidays. The presentation we went to lasted half an hour when we told them we didn't want to carry on. that is only because the 2nd year isn't school hols.

Its £159 for a "prize" you have won.

Whilst there's no such thing as a free lunch, & if you win a TV you have to buy a TV licence & pay for the leccy, there's something fundatmentally wrong with paying a promoter to receive your "prize".

  • your not paying to recieve the price. it's like any timeshare thing you pay a discounted rate to try it out. Me and my family have been doing these for years so i think i know what i'm talking about.

........ Me and my family have been doing these for years so i think i know what i'm talking about.......

But in an earlier post you said:-
i would only do it for the first year though and you only have to go to one talk. it isn't a scam and i will be writing on every website i can to tell people to go for it

    ??????

Methinks you sound like you are making it up as you go along.

Clearly we will never agree on whether these "prizes" are what joe public would regard as a real prize.

  • I mean I have been going on different timeshares for years. Not with this particular company. I'm not making it up as i go along because i know what i'm talking about. You haven't been so you don't.

Crazychick, I'm sorry to disapoint you but I do know what I'm talking about and I suspect that you know that also. I don't have to have been robbed to know that robbery is a bad experience.

Its not a real prize by any reasonable person's definition.

I have been reading this thread about dubious holidays with interest. Last week I received a phone call from Club La Costa saying I had 'won' a 7 night holiday in either turkey, tenereif, southern spain or austria. I was given a code and asked to ring a number, which I did, please don't think I am easily fooled because am one of the worlds most sceptical people.
I was told that me and hubby would have to attend a promotional talk which would last 2 hours all we would have to pay for the holiday would be £29.50 each for the booking fee. Had nothing to do on Sunday so off we popped to the talk, sadly!!!!!!!!!! there wasn't enough people there to talk to us so we got the holiday voucher without having to sit through 2 hours of speel trying to sell us time share.
Next day I received a phone call from another guy apologising for the mix up and would we like a free nights stay at a hotel in london with a free 3 course meal at a top london restaurant, of course we jumped at that, and yes we know we will have to sit through the selling speel.
My thoughts on this 'scam', I don't think it's a scam in so many words as not only will we be getting a luzury 7 night holiday for £60 but we will also be getting free nosh and a free overnight stay in london (only 60miles away so not too far to travel). I think it is just hard sell for timeshare of which I have no intention of buying.
I understand that everyone has different views on this subject but I really don't think that you are likely to get ripped off, just be determined if you don't want a timeshare, nothing to lose, a holiday for £60 to gain.

I received a phonecall a couple of days ago telling me I had won a competition which I had entered on the Google website (alarm bells started ringing as soon as she said that) for a make over. I knew I hadn't won because 1 they don't do comps on Google and 2 i hate things like make overs and spa weekends. It's my idea of a nightmare. But i let her go on talking. Then at the end of it she said they needed a £32 booking fee which they could take from my debit card over the phone now but if I bought photos of my make over at the end they would refund it. Then I said no thanks I wasn't interested but she carried on going on about what a great prize I had won. So I launched into this big speech about how I enter loads of comps and one thing I do know is that if I had won fair and square I wouldnt have to pay any kind of fee up front. I told the woman that the company she worked for were running a scam. Then she still carried on asking what the problem was and I just butted in and said "I'm not interested and don't phone me again, Bye". My boyfriend was sat there with his mouth wide open!!
