  • Of course, I bet that they wanted you to hand over credit/debit card details before you received your "prize" right?
  • Same email as wendybiv.

They want £89 booking fee and you book your own flights.
Also 90-120 minutes of your time talking about the resort.

I replied that I would like to decline.
  • Ask yourself, "Why have they managed to come up with my name", if you can't give a sensible answer then it's a scam

  • When you receive any email from someone selling or offering something, unless you really KNOW the company sending it, NEVER "unsubscribe"
All you do is confirm the email address they've used (yours) is a live user and is worth adding to a database to sell on.
Best solution is to access your mail account via the web interface & block the sender if you can, can reduce the number of followup emails significantly

Thanks - could you possibly explain further to this silver surfer techno klutz? I never unsubscribe, but I would like to unblock my junk folder!

    Dear Mrs ShadowzTenshi,

Do you recall filling in and mailing an entry coupon for a competition or prize promotion? The promoter provided your name to us and as a result you will have won a valuable prize if your unique ID matches any one of over 6,00 winning ID matches. If Mrs ShadowzTenshi is no longer at Address nobody else may claim any prize, as a cheque can only be issued in that name.

All prizes have been assigned to ID numbers, and 8525-S7 could match the £25 minimum or top £20,000 or any of the designated prizes (see below)

They ranged from £25 to £20,000 and stated I had 28 days to 'claim' my 'prize' and that I should call their 'prize winners' call line which charged £1.50 per minute or text them at £1.50 a text with minimum of 6 texts, the laughable part is they stated that they will not ask for personal, financial or bank information and that you should be wary of companies that do! The address is:

    UK Fundholder Registration
    Central Office
    PO Box 224
    Herefordshire
    HR9 9FN
    As printed on the letter.

Hopefully this helps spread the word about these idiots. -.-

I got the same thing today. What's the best thing to do with it? Is there some way to report it?

    Hi all,
Just letting you know that I received a letter today from a place called The Prize Directory in Hereford HR9 9FN saying I will have won a valuable prize if my unique ID matches a winning number. There is a number they want you to ring (09061 583501) that charges £1.50 a minute, or you can text or send a S.A.E.
There was a similar scam going round a few years back I think, so I thought I'd just warn you all to be on the lookout again.
    I hate people like this!!

I received a letter from the same Hereford postcode with the same "phone this £1.50 a minute line, text or send an SAE", except it says it's from the UK Fundholder Registration.

    Total scam.

    Hi everyone (newbie here!)

I got a phonecall today from 02030020312 saying I had been selected to win a phone, and which phone would I like - samsung, sony or iphone. I went along with it, until it came to "only £28 a month". Apparently it was a discounted package I had won? But the talk of bank accounts made me wary. I was wondering if this phonecall was legit or a scam? Thanks!
