My OH calls his grandmother Mamie and his late grandfather was Papie. They are all French, but I see no reason why not to use these forms of address if you are not French...personally I think they sound very endearing! My Dad will be Papie when me and OH have kids.....The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.0

When I was pregnant with DD, my sister decided that my Auntie should be called Nanny and my Uncle should be called Bampy (We were raised by them and they are more like Grandparents than my blood parents).
DDD could never say Bampy and has always called him Bumpy. This went down very well with everyone except Bumpy as he has always been a little large and we all called him Hummick when we were children!
Subsequent children have just followed suit.
Bampi/Bampy/Bampa is a very popular name for grandfather in Swansea - for some reason my FIL absolutely hates it with a passion, although he's not from Swansea. For a while after DD was born I was going to train her to call him Bampi just to annoy him, but unfortunately Tadcu seems to have stuck .
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -

My daughter will only have one set of grandparents when she's born. My grandmother was always Nan, and she passed away a month and a half ago, so my mother chose to be Nan as an inherited title. My dad will be Grandad, I guess. He left the choice up to me but I don't see it as one I should make. It should really be his. His father was Grandad though, so the same rules will apply.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Going slightly off topic, but the posts that discuss terms of address getting muddled due to young children's inability to pronounce words correctly remind me of when I was a kid. Mum's brother was called Andy but I never used to be able to say 'Uncle Andy', so it came out as 'Ghandi'. My parents have got cassette recordings of us when we were small and it's hilarious to hear myself shouting 'Mum Mum, Ghandi's at the door'!The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.0

I've waited a long time to be a grandma and for the time being we're 'nanny G' and 'Grumpy' - but she's only 5 weeks old so there's no telling what she'll eventally call us! I don't really care, I just love her to bits:jIf swimming is good for your figure, can someone please explain whales?0

My other Grandparents were dead before I was born.0 -
My kids called my nan GG's. Now I have the honour of having a darling GS he calls me Nanna and calls my mum and dad Pip and Pop as my mum says she is way to young to be a GG.s.olympic challenge starting 7/1/07:j0

both mums wanted to be granny so my daughter differentiated them as Fat Gran and Thin Gran. Nothing would dissuade her from that - and she preferred Fat Gran as she was always more fun so it wasn't derogatory. Her little sister followed suit...
Ex MIL always thinks I put them up to it which I never did..0
