Great news about your son, mooloo, I didn't realise they got petrol allowance AS WELL AS EMA. But he has to realise that he will lose it if he doesn't go, and that you can't subsidise him AT ALL. I know it's hard, when some children will be getting EMA plus extras from their parents, but life's not fair, and learning to deal with that is a vital part of growing up. We'll all hope your son does that! :rotfl:

I believe that they normally offer a free bus pass, but as there are no buses in my village, they offered petrol allowance.
He has been told that he will not be getting anymore money from me. That we need what I am able to get to keep the house, and the car etc.

just waiting for him to call now to tell me if his bike will start, or if I have to go and collect him!.

  • Mooloo I think you are really brave to get out there in a new community, its not easy and for a lot of us I think that takes some courage. Well done.

I was lucky enough to have struck up conversations with the lady next door, and confessed to her that I dont like going places on my own, and she offered to take me with her. She is local, and used to live on the farm, and retired to the house next door, and her son now runs the farm. He is my landlord, and he himself used to live in this house when he first got married.
Anyway, I just had to take the bull by the horns and go. Then I stood back a bit when she was talking to lots of village people, because I didnt want to be too intrusive, so I held back, and also viewed the exhibits of amazing fruit, veg, jams, cakes, etc etc. I was amazed at how many exhibits there were.
We were only there for about an hour. Then came back, but it was enough for me to have got out and about.
I am not feeling too well, and my left arm is reminding me that its been over doing it lately!.
I hope DS gets intouch soon so that I can hve a hot bath, and get into some snuggly clothes!
    ;)

Finally just got hold of DS!. Guess what? He is going to stay the night at his friends again. (I spoke to the mum). So I am here on my own again!. Least I can now cook the dinner for me, and snuggle down in something more comfortable.
Spoken to My Parrots on the MSN so all is ok. (Sorry Parents, we call them Parrots due to they used to be in a Caravan club, called the Pirates and my mum made parrots for them all!).
Have masses of apples to make more jam, and stewed fruit tomorrow morning. Never did make any bread in the machine today, so perhaps I will ear mark tomorrow morning to the kitchen and the afternoon to the sewing. I want to make myself a jacket for the winter out of some fabric I found in the charity shop. IF I dont start to make it soon, I never will and it will lie there waiting for attention for another year or two.!!! mmm

Shaz, I am still having a rough time with my joints today. The sciatica is giving me as much trouble as the spondylitis(losis) I can never remember which one it is I have, but they seem to be the same??
My neck movement is limited, as is the left arm. Infact the whole of my left side is not good. I am "dragging" my leg a bit, and the pins and needles are down into my toes.
I have managed to hang out the washing, (even though its a bit cloudy) but it was an effort to get the arm up to the line.
DS's things are in the tumble dryer, as he doesnt have that much he has shot up i height. I am sure he gains about 2 " a week. He will be hitting his head on the beams downstairs as well as having to stoop to go through all the little doors!!
My Parrots are comin over to see if they can get my TV working for me. Picture is green, and the freeview isnt working. Cant get many channels and no ITV so I missed Xfacor last night. Dad can also have his lawn mower back. I dont think that I should have tried to mow the lawn yesterday.
I knew it was hurting and hard work at the time, but definitely paying the consequences. In future DS will have to do it.
I need to stand for while and peel the apples to use them before they go to waiste.

Well my Dad came over to look at my freeview and the old sky box. My TV has died a death. Mind you it is a very old huge big heavy TV, and the picture has now gone yellow.
Dad has (good old Dad) leant me their TV from their caravan. So It is currently sitting on top of the old one, and I have the normal TV on, and can get some of the freeview on it too.!! Still cant get BBC on freeview, but as I can get it from the normal areal then thats fine.!
I have cleared some of the weeds etc from the front door step. Picked up and binned the next lot of windfall apples off of the tree. To try and reduce the number of wasps hanging around.
Two loads of washing now dry.
Apples on to stew at the moment. Another lot will go on later if I am up to peeling them. There are masses that I cannot reach on the tree too, so it could keep me busy forever.
I am now catching up on TV XFactor I missed last night. As I need to rest.
Left wrist is troubling me now!!! Mmm must be falling too bits.
Better just sit still for once and enjoy a bit of light entertainment.
Hopefully the tablets will get working soon!.

There are often TVs on Freecycle so definitely worth looking / asking!

And definitely make DS responsible for cutting the grass. I always have, don't know what I will do when they're all gone, IF they ever all go! :rotfl:

Hi Mooloo sorry to hear your in so much pain. I know its been said before but you should apply for dla. At least then you will have a decent amount of money coming in. Sorry if I sound pushy but you are entitled to that benefit.
