Yes sort of - SG can claim CB and CTC which foster carers cannot, any allowance will then be a top up to get to what foster carers are paid. Because it is means tested the top up is counted as an income and not a disregard which fostering allowance is, so therfore may have implications for other benefits. As the govt is committed to cutting tax credits then the top up will by default increase and will have a knock on effect. As I said it is a very messy system and open to interpretation.
I love SG for the security it can give children and carers, but just hate the financial side of it. I never went into social work to be a banker!
Also this case has not gone to court and to take away the mothers PR through the back door via threats of adoption is in my opinion very very wrong.

This is my problem in a nutshell. I would loose my ESA and be classed as a single person, with child. Reducing my money to arround £130 aweek for the two of us. Which is less then the fostering allowance.
I have had to give up the idea of building a business, or getting full time work, as with my health problems caring for DGD is enough. I will only ever get a little bit of pin money, if that, out of sewing.
So I have/will become worse off.
We will have to go back to living on £4.000 a year challenge, and that at the moment is me funding DS as he has NO benefits at all at the moment.

I understand that SG would give me all the rights etc, but its unfortuantely not that important as mum is co-operative, so it sadly is down to the funds.! Hence a solicitor to help me along the way. We still have not had any court proceedings. The SS are going to go on the assessment that was done for the access to the residencial housing course, 12 weeks, they refused Mum. They are not intending to do any more assessments on Mum.
(Mum needs to get her solicitor to fight that one, I cannot do it).

I am expecting a visit this afternoon from our SW. He has his report to bring along, and the family safety agreement? Which I will be expected to sign. I am not sure I should hang on till I see the solicitor on that one. I will read it thoroughly first. he was hoping to see DS, but I forgot he has gone to Yarmouth for the day with his friends.
Doesnt look like a very good day for the weather for him.
Right I better move. I was going to start to cut out some hearts today, and that was hours ago!!.

    Oh holly S H I T.!
My ESA has not been paid, and I just put my car insurance on my account yesterday, so its going to hit today. So did all the s/o to the utilities go out today. this has really messed me up. !
I have called, and there is an Open queiry or something on my account. So they will have to get back to me!.
If the fact that fostering DGD has made me register as Self employed I think this may have mucked me up! Although if you go back into work, you are supposed to still get ESA for upto a year.! Oh am worried and confused, and could have done without this now.

    Phew!!!
After a phone call, it appears it was just a "computer glitch" and they will override it, and my payment will be in the bank by 5pm tonight!. Thanks goodness.! Perhaps I am going to be lucky for a while longer.
Right its now nearly 11am and I have not cut out a single heart!! Better get cracking.

Thank goodness for that Mooloo, I think my heart stopped along with yours when I read the latest problem. I'm glad it's all sorted and hope that the solicitor finds it as easy yo sort Social Services out once and for all.

Its just as well I had checked my online banking, or I might not have known until something bounced! that would have been disasterous to my credit ratings!.

(trying to recover from the bankrupcy in 2007)

Right I am sewing but with plenty of interuptions from a little lady, and form my obsession with checking up on my emails!

16 hearts cut out, now being turned outside in, and ready to stuff.
    better get back to it.

    Thinking positively. Onwards and upwards!!!:D

My money is in thank goodness.
The social worker has been, and I have finally signed the Family Safety Agreement.
I have acopy of the S.LAC review as well.
Funding is the big issue that is pushing me. He said that he didnt blame me for slowing things down, but that his bosses are pushing. Well they are going ot have to wait until my solicitor has done his work.
I said that there is no dispute in my longterm caring for DGD, its just that we need to find out under which system she is better off!
    So we will see.
He will refund the money for the Passport, and my costs incurred in the visits to Mum. So I need to draw up the paperwork for that, as I dont have receipts as I drive to mum etc. But I can work it all out. I shall put in a bill that dates back to the begining, But then we will have to see what percentage of it they actually refund. Thats some working out to do. Mmm

    Time to do dinner.
run out of the Victorian Garden pot pourri, so I will need to order some more.
    May be some lavender too.

If you've ever forgotten to set the mileage counter on the car before one of those journeys (or to note what it said at the end!) I find google maps is very good for working it out afterwards!

I know that the trip to collect Mum is 81/2 miles to her door. Then o course we have to come back here. So we are on 17 miles each trip.
There are also other costs when I had to take DGD to place SS wanted. So I will have to work it out.
I need to remember that in the beginning I did ge £10 from the first Social worker, and the I think another payment. But she was gone soon, and the next wouldnt give me any funding.!
The trip to the Bigtown, was 20 miles odd, so I will try the google for that one. I used to take DGD to see her Mum twice a week sometimes 3 in those days. So I will adverage it at the twice a week. Get the calander out I think.

I made 18 scented heart sachets yesterday in the end. Kept getting interuptions!. But at least I Made them.
Have run out of the scented pot pourrie that I used or I would have 20 done.!
Time to order more. Cant get that recycled:rotfl:

Hello, grumplestiltskin, you sent me a PM but your not receiving them?
Perhaps you can resend with an alternative way for me to reply to you, maybe an email address? If you cannot enable PM's?

I have so many sewing ideas they will last me a while, sourcing the fabrics has really started to be some fun.

Got to go to the post office there is a little girl who needs a lovely piece of bunting, I have made.! mustnt disappoint her. ! Didnt do a photo as it has a name on it that the mum may not want to be shown.
