A new start for Mooloo

Again, I get funding from Adult Social Services to help me with my parenting role. Some of this goes on pre-school for DS2 as it provides respite for me. N.B. He gets more funding for preschool via the CAF because he is behind his peers (because my parenting has been compromised by my disability because I wasn't adequately supported by Adult SS with sufficient respite) and as a result he is officially classed 'in need'.
Another avenue of funding you could explore via HomeStart, SS or Health Visitor is the 2 year old Early Years Funding pilot.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Mooloo - look at this from the other side ....if DGD is in nursery for one day a week @ £32 per day - it will give you one day free for sewing .... how much could you earn during your child-free time???
I have no experience/knowledge of thebenefits that are available - but I firmly believe that you ought to be entitled to something - maybe from the Surestart fund??
What about getting your MP to find out what benefits should be open to you now .....give him/her something else to think about!0 -
Longtime lurker here, but think I may be able to give a little advice. You should definitely enquire with your local early years service as to whether your DGD qualifies for the 2 yr old funding. I am currently involved in monitoring 2 yr olds who are drawing down the funding across out authority and I would say that many of them come from similar backgrounds as those that you describe for DGD. Many of them are in foster care. If you ring your local authority and ask to speak with the department that deals with nursery education grant, they should put you to the right people. In theory all agencies involved with the children should work together and communicate so your social workers should know about this however in practice this rarely happens!!'we don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing'0

My MP never bothered to reply to me apart from the acknowledgement of receiving my letter. Waste of space!.
I shall try again with Social Services. As asked many many times, we have NEVER been allocated an Adult Social Worker dispite asking and asking till I am blue in the face!.
I shall keep trying though. Thanks everyone.
I had not thought about an Advocay, but I shall investigate that when I get back from the meetings tomorrow.
I am still waiting for a reply call from the Social Services to find out who is now our Social Worker for DGD as the original one has now left the services and moved up north, and handed us to the other team, who are????????????????????
Now I am not sure I can suddenly Earn £32 a day, but my thinking is that I may be able to offset some of the costs if I do sew, and find people that like what i sew, and will want to buy it not just Oooh and aargh over it!...:rotfl:
Right talking of sewing thats what I am going to do now. My mission is to make a tea cosy. At least start one but hopefully finish it.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Rather than ring SS direct, try asking your GP to do the referral, in my experience SS will respond faster to a professional approach than to a self-referral. And if they still refuse to do an assessment / assign a care manager, then get your local councillor involved.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

She backed off when they said that her flat was too small. We went for 3 weeks where she didnt have her, but she is now having her every other weekend, starting again this weekend I hope!.
But still the more help we can get the better.!
Got to go now, Just had the Sky engineer putting in a new system. Apparantly the old one didnt work as the apple tree blocked the signals.! So dish has had to be put in a different place.
Time to see the boys. xWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Oh Shaz, thats the trouble I am having. Doing all the driving everyday is exhausting me, and the pain level is sky high!.
Oystercatcher, the videos arrived yesterday. THANKYOU SO MUCH. DGD is mesmerised by The Little Mermaid, and I am sure the bigger kids are reliving memories too!. :T:T:j I shall endeavour to carry out your wishes, and will be arranging to see Molly early next week! xx
I am sorry that i was not on line yesterday, with DS home I didnt get a look in on the laptop when I did finally get home, around tea time.
I saw the boys. The baby is growing so fast. The foster parents were there this time. We met the woman the last time, but the man was also their this time.
They have given Mum a copy of a picture taken in thier garden, of the boys, and are making a scrapbook up I believe they said.
It was good to see them, and Mum interacting with them.
I still spent the day running around after them all. I am too soft!.
Dropped DGD back at home (she came with us to see the boys), and DS and twin1 did lunch and she had a sleep, while I took Twin2 to the council about the fact that her housing benefit cheque was coming to her, and not going direct to the housing. Dispite repeated forms being filled in to the fact.! Then once we had done that it was around to the doctors to confirm the times of her getting the implant.( Next Wednesday.) She had said that it was on Tuesday at 9.30, and I said that she couldnt do that if she is seeing the boys, as she has to get the 7.55bus into town. Then the other one out again etc so she gets to see the boys on time. She said that she HAD to get the implant done on Tuesday as that was the only time the doctor would do it. So I went to check that it could be changed (as she was going to cancel seeing the boys as I had told her that she must have the implant!) I said that if she made ANY appointments at all, they could not be on the mornings of the days she sees the boys as the SS would not change the times that they allowed access to the boys and it would not be good to miss seeing them. Anyway she had got the dates wrong and it was the wednesday. So we just saved her from cancelling the tuesday meeting with the boys!.
After I dropped her off and did a little bit of top up shopping it was home to pick up Twin1 and take her back to her little house.! And of course the drive back home again.!
DGD then played in the garden at the back of the garages with next doors dog so I was outside but unable to do any gardening as my arm had had enough.! For once we had a simple tea of boiled eggs and toast! I was just not up to doing a proper cooked meal!.
It also meant that I didnt get around to making my one craft item as I had hoped to do. (But I did make 2 tea cosies the day before).
My arm is still protesting this morning. So I will have to take it easy as I can today. But still need to drive as we are going to see what the Nursery is like. I am still awaiting a call back from the social services team manager, (he did leave a message with the supervising worker, to say he had got my message but was in meetings and was greatful for my patience! ha!), I am trying to get them to confirm that they will help with funding. I will probably have to wait until the beginning of the month so that I have the money for the fees. Its got to be paid up front including a £55 registration fee. So after the expenses of the last few weeks, I have not got easy access to the £200 needed. Obviously I will have enough in the budget once I start, to put the £32 a week aside. (But then we are back onto the grocery challenges etc etc with gusto!).
Right The little mermaid is on again. Dispite the offer of The Tweenies etc .
Cup of tea, then breakfast as we need to be leaving here by 8.45 to be able to take DGD to her Play and Stay with her Mum.
While she is there I will go and check up on my parents house and makesure the post is not blocking the door way. They are not going to be happy when they get back to see that the Chemist shop has turned into a Chinese Takeaway behind them. the constant cars and the rubbish etc is really going to ruin thier garden peace. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well I am back. I stopped at my parents house and used Mums computer while i waited for DGD and Mum to finish at the Stay and Play or what ever its called. Then I collected them and went to the Nursery. Its just across the carpark from Mums.
DGD was in like a shot and making herself at home immediately. So I have decided that even if the SS dont help fund, I will budget for the one day a week. Its a long day available. 8am - 6pm. But they give Breakfasts between 8 and 9. snacks. Lunch-cooked, then snacks then tea time they get sandwiches. Nappies etc are supplied. So we dont have to worry about that. We just need to give clothes for changing into in case of accidents etc.
So I have said that I will start her next Tuesday. (By then I will definitely have the funds in.) I can pay for the two weeks and the registration fee. Then I have till the end of the month to Pay the July fees. ). So its agreed.
DGD had a screaming abdabs fit trying to get her into the car.! Poor Mum was upset. Luckily some motorbikes came up to the car to ask the way to Silverstone, which gave me the idea to say that we would Follow the bikes, and she got into her seat. Mind you all the way home it was where are the motorbikes. There are hundreds about because of this weeekends MotorGP at the course, and we are only about 8 miles away.
DGD is tired and now asleep. I am tired too. Biggest of Mooloo is collecting her at 6.30 and that will then give me a break until Sunday Lunchtime.
And boy do I need it. Still have to work out what DS is going to as he wont stay in the village on his own when I go to see my BF.
Right things to do, even though I just want to go to sleep. I am waiting for 2 when I can take my next lot of tablets. I really need them today!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
