A Payment A Day Part 4

  • My PAD for today is the usual few pence

    26p

On a brighter note, I've now got the outgoings covered for the 1st of the month but I still need a bit more to cover the stuff that goes out in the week or so thereafter. That should be OK though as the cheques coming in over the next few days and some cash payments ought to cover that. It will stretch my overdraft close to its new limit though but I accept dipping into overdraft as a temporary necessity over the coming months. Apparently, Abbey review their overdraft limits every six months so I want to be in a position where I no longer require it by the next review. This will mean very small (additional) PADs but is a price worth paying IMO.
  • Not going to be near a computer tomorrow, so I will have to do 2 PADS to cover both days . . . so £5 for today & £5 for tomorrow . . .

    Making £10 in total

Hope I don't get burnt to a crisp tomorrow, bought some factor 50 sunscreen so here's hoping.

Catch up with you all on Sunday evening . . .

    Oh Paul,
that used to be one of my tricks too! putting a bill on cc and getting the cash from mates!! .. now just don't go out!!
Know what you mean about the co-op.. they used to have so many 'handybanks' but not now, however they are taking over Britania building society .. whichwill be useful for me .. will be able to pay cash in without a parking fee.. hope there will be one near you too.

OH is self employed too, and when you really need somebody to pay cash on the day you can bet your last penny they don't!

But.. you will reap the rewards of your labours I'm sure!
    Keep the faith...

I don't go out so much either Pippo. However, Saturday evening is a very special celebration for a long term friend. I wouldn't miss it even if I turned up just for a couple of naan breads. Anyway, I don't drink any alcohol and I don't smoke at all (stopped both many years ago for health reasons) so that saves me a packet. I don't even eat meat or fish so my ingredients are cheaper too. I dread to think where my finances would be if I had continued doing those things. I do question how virtuous it all is though because Adolf Hitler was a teetotal, non smoking vegetarian too. I'm pleased to say that's where the similarities end ;) .

    Wow !! What a saint I am :A .

OK. I've put a fiver for each day into the spreadsheet.
Tip for anyone doing the totalling in future. Just set up a simple spreadsheet and just have the spreadsheet window and the window for this thread open. It makes it very easy to add the totals. I leave the cursor over one of the buttons in the taskbar at the bottom and when I want to switch windows I just click on it. I enter the data into the sheet and hit return so the next cell down is highlighted then left click on one of the taskbar buttons to bring up the other window. I scroll the browser window with the cursor keys so that the cursor never needs to move. It's also easier if you have the thread set to 40 posts per page as that saves moving the cursor as much to click onto the next page. Like this, I can fly through a thread entering totals very quickly.

When I did the totals last I just added as I went and prayed for the best. :o

I bow down to your superior talents :rotfl:

    No thanks :D

Years ago I had a straggly beard for about 7 years.
The only facial hair I've had in years is if I've been a bit lazy about shaving. Some people call it designer stubble. I just call it inertia. I don't even have much on top these days so I never let it go beyond a number 2. Not exactly a Jean Luc Picard but probably heading that way ;)

Yes, I'm aware of my wonderful intelligence. Thank you for reminding me though ;)
  • Cheers me dears . . . right off to work to watch the vultures strip the shelves of Michael Jackson stock . . . Why do these folks NEVER seem to buy stuff when the artist / actor is alive to enjoy the cash and then line the pockets of lawyers when they turn up their toes ?

    My PAD today is £2.09

I am a bit p**d off this morning, my OH has not been paid :mad: We go along for 6 months being paid on Thursdays, then all of a sudden he will be paid on a Friday. Well today is Friday and still no pay. I wouldn't worry but this employer has a cavalier attitude to it all and 2 years ago when he didn't pay him till the Saturday a dd went out on the Friday and we got charged. His boss's answer was get an OD!!!!!!!!!!!!! yea we have one thanks but are in it big time..............he then tried to tell my OH how we should run our finances. My prob this morning is that do I waste my time going to our BS to remove emergency funds and put them in the bank or wait in the hope he will be paid tomorrow (dd's hit big time on monday)

Sorry for sounding off but you guys are so nice :kisses:

Just goes to show the discussion I had with someone over a small emergency fund was justified :rotfl:cos I would be stuffed without it
