I have been reading your thread with interest as it is such good idea. I'd really like to start doing this.
Can I ask a silly question please ?
How do you actually as in physically pay off the money from the debts ??
Sorry I'm really knew to all this
Cheers
Some people put it in a pot and pay a lump sum. The bits they put in the pot are their PADs. No problem with this so long as it's not posted twice (into the pot AND the lump payment). My own preferred method is to set up bill payments to my lenders from my current account (soon to be ex-account as Abbey couldn't manage a bunk up in a brothel) and pay something each day. I count my direct debit minimum payments as PADs. Some people don't. I also count any extra payments as PADs. Currently things are very tight for me so mostly I only pay pennies per day. Some people don't have debts but count savings payments as PADs.
Any way you like really solong as they don't end up being counted twice (IMO of course).
Also, please please please highlight the PAD within your post. It makes it a lot easier for the superb person who is doing the adding up this month (that's me).0 -

VW ceramic campervan moneybox was a Christmas pressie from DD18 - TBH I don't think she realised we were serious about getting a REAL one & touring in it:eek: & is mortified I am saving in it for that very purpose :TShe thinks we're a couple of sad old g*ts.....but she's off to uni come Sept & once we clear the debt mountain.................off we go!!! TBH have not got into the splitty/bay debate as yet as probably only have enough for a windscreen wiper so far
No PAD as yet but I am having to report a weight *GAIN of 1 1/2lb* this week. However, could have been MUCH WORSE so am quite relieved with that .......will try & keep on track. Back with a PAD later....:rotfl: It's always the debate with the OH that one, splitty or a bay! But we can only afford to spy at them and look after his MK1 Golf bless him. We'd have no where to put one anyway so maybe that's a good thing!
Don't worry about the treats as we all get them! Thanks for letting me know anyhows!

I was just going through my work spreadsheet.
It's crazy. I am on target for my highest earning month ever, yet I'm totally skint. The clue is in how much I'm owed. If the money I'm owed was in my bank account right now, I would be able to cover every penny that will be going out in the first week of the month without even relying on my reduced overdraft.
I'm a bit peeved because I am trying to shift away from Abbey gradually and start using my Co-op business account more. However, due to the depositing methods, it takes longer to clear at the Co-op. My cashflow problem coupled with the pending reduced overdraft is forcing me to do more with Abbey than I would wish.
Today, I even targetted work where people are usually in and often pay cash just so I would have something to bank. I slogged away and did about £250s worth. Of course most of them were out as the weather was so nice. So much for that plan.
Plan B is that I'm going out with friends on Saturday evening for a curry. I will try to pay by credit card and get the cash out of them. Much cheaper than credit card at the hole in the wall. It means that I can defer part of the problem till early August but I anticipate being paid for a load of work by then.
Not very MSE but hey, a guy's got to live.0
