RMA passed back to MBNA, so it was almost as though they were inhouse to MBNA, Amex passed over immediately to RMA Resolve.

I believe they are the same company.

RMA annoyed me a little, but I was inexperienced at the start of my DMP, not like the battle hardened DMPer that I am today...

RMA Resolve have been fine, accepted payments, and have offered F&Fs at any time.

    hiya,

I have always lurked on these boards but thought I would say hello. I'm on a DMP with CCCS and have had a relatively smooth ride until this month. I've made a fair dent in what I owe but RBS have suddenly started being a bit nasty.
My CCCS payment went in two days late this month because of the bank holiday and RBS have taken offence. They are now classing my arrangement as in arrears and over a period of just 8 days have passed my account to 2 different DCA's - Triton (in house RBS) and Allied International Credit. Both have been deeply unpleasant, Triton hung up on me when I offered to pay the arrears over the phone telling me they wanted to 'take matters further' and AIC have been sending me a barrage of text messages insisting I pay off my debt in full or risk going to court.

has anyone else experienced these DCA's or a DMP suddenly hitting a tough patch after a few years of creditor being understanding?

ilovecakes - wow can't believe how rude some of the DCA's can be. I'm sure someone will be along soon to answer your questions. You'd have thought that creditors would realise once you enter a DMP that you're probably going to be in it for at least 5 or 6 years so why they suddenly come out of the dark and bite you again a few years or months down the line I'll never understand! hope you get it sorted anyhow.Morning all : )

    Hellooo Everyone

I had a few days at some rellies with the kids.. it was sooo nice to get away!

    Anyhooo..
RBOS (who have been my BEST creditor from the start of my Self managed DMP... and funnily enough, one I feared the most) :o

Have written to say they will stop charges and interest for 6mths.. then review it again with me. (yay!)

Hitachi capital.. (whom I am learning to hate with a passion) :wall:

Are soooo nasty.. (right from the start) .. have sent me heaps of threats
and slap charges on me left right and centre. (Each time they send me a default sum letter.. they charge me £50 for it!)..

    Anyhoooo.. Things are ticking along.

Edited to add: Oh.. and flamin HSBC have pretty much ignored everything I have said.. (tho I am carrying on regardless) and keep on and on and on calling. (and asking me to take a managed loan) .. They say they cannot accept my payments as they are too low for the sum owed.

Funny.. because I owe RBOS a lot MORE.. and they are okay (ish) with it.

HSBC call me a few times per hour.. from about 8am till 8.30pm .. and Each week they use a new number. (We are up to HSBC6 on my phone now)

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend, just to let you know HSBC have sent a letter advising they have agreed to our self DMP and reduced to 0% interest. So only NR and MBNA to hear from now as everyone else has agreed. Natwest wont agree anything until they default us, which is a delay tactic as they have advised will contiune to charge interest until this happens  but at least they arent hounding us.

Woooo I wish they would do that with me.. they are calling so much they are driving me nuts! haha!

    Hi

Does anybody on a DMP have Vanquis as one of their creditors and if so how have they treated you ?
So far most of my creditors seem to be liasing with CCCS but Vanquis call me constantly at least 5 times a day.

Vanquis are the scum of the earth and should be press-ganged out of existence. I'm sure there's something they can be got on via trades descriptions, or something. They advertise "need a credit card" and "can't get any credit", and you wade through all of their paperwork looking for the "get out quick" button or confirmation that you have a 14 day cool off, and before you know it they've taken £90-odd quid from your account and it's not a credit card at all but a £5k loan for online shopping. Then, when you try and exercise your 14 day cool off, they say they are entitled to a "reasonable fee" and deduct £15 from their refund to you.

I'd like to see a crusade against this despicable company.

Ahem ... as for your question, sorry, I'm sure someone will have replied by now. I'm still catching up on a week of posts ...

    Grrr. Rant over. Sorrrreeeee. :embarasse

who owns there own house and is on a DMP, will they come after it.

    regards MB

I'm still catching up so no doubt someone will have replied to this by now. However, if you have a flexible DMP/FMP I was told by my advisor that any equity may be enquired into and some may expect you to dip into it to pay them back. If you have the IVA thingy, they can't consider this until the end of year 4. (Just quoting what I was told, so if it's incorrect ... ) I don't see, though, how we can get extra credit on, say, our mortgage when we are in a DMP/FMP as we're not very credit worthy, are we? If you don't have a mortgage and own your home outright, then yes I understand they may enquire.

If you do go through a company (I decided it was easier to just pay one person rather than sorting out lots of payments each month) - then make sure you use one of the charity ones that doesn't make a monthly charge for a DMP. That way all your money is going to your debts ;)

    Contact Payplan or CCCS.co.uk.

I have gone through a company, but not one of the free ones. The company is charging, but the interest and charges they'll be saving me will cover their fee 100 times over and still knock years off my settlement date, so I'm not too worried about this just yet and as it's flexible, I can cancel at any time and go to one of the others.

This is entirely up to the individual and what works for you. This is working for me just now.

I didn't want a load of unpaid bills or any hassle, so got a private company to take it on immediately. I understand people are waiting for their telephone interviews and then paperwork and then welcome packs, whereas all of mine was done straight away and they had all the time in the world for me on the phone, whereas others are claiming they're feeling rushed.

No doubt when I'm in the swing of things and everything is set up, I may think of switching then, but I'll see how it goes first. And I can still offer F&Fs as each debt reduces to a controllable amount.

I made my first, vastly reduced payment to my private, fee charging company on Friday. For this I make just one payment and sign just one form, and they write all the letters and make all the phone calls for me and it can be reviewed at any time and they can manage any F&Fs for me. They take their pro-rated fee out of the monthly payment just like everyone else. They save me loads in interest and late payment charges, and I don't get any of the hassle. Plus, I can demand they deal with me NOW and not in 3 weeks time.

Yesterday I panicked and didn't respond well to a call from HFC. I have 2 secured loans with HFC and the one isn't part of my debt plan while the other only needed £24 paying and it was clear. I have to get a new DD for the other one, but when I plucked up courage and called them back, I was able to make the £24 payment. One debt down. :j

Today I fielded a phone call from Egg. From some of the horror stories on here, I was fearing my Egg phone call, but I have to say that both men I spoke to were really, really lovely. The second one said a lot of it is down to circumstances, but because I've set my D/FMP in motion BEFORE falling behind, and kept them informed, of course they're happy to speak to me as though I'm a real human being.

They said my account would fall into default once the next payment is missed, and the notice would be sent. They said it wasn't a nice letter, but I'm not to worry about it as it's just automatic. They have my FMP reference number and the name and number of my advisor.

I applied to Nat West for their Step account as it's not supposed to be credit scored, but it is. So when that was referred I assumed it would be denied and retained my existing Lloyds TSB account complete with £750 overdraft. However, Nat West accepted me to their Step account so now I reserve the right to add the Lloyds one to the plan. I'm going to see how it goes.

Big headache now is setting up new DDs for my mortgage and utilities and the remaining HFC loan. I may skip a month with some of them, some may allow me to make this month's payment over the phone. I wish my DM company could do this for me too. :D

Even bigger headache is that some charity money I had that I thought had been banked is still actually tied up in the overdraft I left behind at Barclays. So I had to take half of it out of this month's wages and pay it over the counter at the bank. I'll have to do the same with the other as soon as I can. That's £600 I could do without spending, but I thought they'd taken it and it was all part of the debt. Things are going to be tighter than ever while I sort this out, but the charity should have its money.

Without the charity money, my plan was going to leave me feeling a lot more comfortable than before. Soon as I get back on an even keel again, I'll see about upping my monthly payment.
