Eupho - hope you had a lovely relaxing time and not come back to too much stress ; ) It's rediculous what some of the creditors say, especially as you know they can do more to help you, seeing others on here with more success stories relating to the same creditor, and when you have a larger creditor doing all they can for you! supose they are only doing their job but there's no need to be rude about it is there. anyhow glad to see you back and and thanks spendaholick for all your advice above : )

    Hi

I haven't really posted much on the forum but reading through it helped me to realise that i couldn't bury my head in the sand about money any longer. I have told my partner about my debts and my DMP is set up. I'm still a bit worried about if my creditors will accept the payments but for the first time in years, I feel in control. My DMP plan means that I will be debt free in 21 months. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone on the forum for beng so supportive and for not being judgemental.
  • vanquis are the scum of the earth and should be press-ganged out of existence. I'm sure there's something they can be got on via trades descriptions, or something. They advertise "need a credit card" and "can't get any credit", and you wade through all of their paperwork looking for the "get out quick" button or confirmation that you have a 14 day cool off, and before you know it they've taken £90-odd quid from your account and it's not a credit card at all but a £5k loan for online shopping. Then, when you try and exercise your 14 day cool off, they say they are entitled to a "reasonable fee" and deduct £15 from their refund to you.

I'd like to see a crusade against this despicable company.

Ahem ... As for your question, sorry, i'm sure someone will have replied by now. I'm still catching up on a week of posts ...

    Grrr. Rant over. Sorrrreeeee. :embarasse

    Hi
Forgive me if not posting correctly but complete newbie!
Not on DMP plan yet but must make decision within next couple of days. Not in arrears to anyone yet but owe £16,000 approx and can only repay £76 per month (19 years!) CCCS Plan.
Am frightened to the bottom of my soul by messages re:harrassment, court orders etc. on this thread. Is it really so bad??? How intensive/long is it???
Only other option is to sell small 2 bed house for tiny 1 bed flat - really would hate to do - gut feeling says stay put.
Not worried about restrictive living budget of DMP but the pressure/stress of it all.
Possiblility I could repay debt in few years due to legacy on death of relative.
So worried by all this. Would value your experienced opions. Thanks!

Quick questoin - we had a bad month last month, my husband's salary was down about £200, meaning lots of direct debits bounced.... then the bank (Halifax) put loads of charges on us (so I checked our statements - total over last few months, mostly this month = £345)

Should we try to reclaim them..... or take the hit, could do with the money back as our youngest daughter starts school in September and she will need some clothes for school.

Will they close our account. We have reclaimed from Abbey, Barclays & Natwest successfully in past but we are not using their accounts. We are still with Halifax for current account and savings.

    Thanks

    Hi all

I'm also new to all of this so would love to join the gang if possible - seems like a good support network!

I have had my letter from CCCS today to start setting up my DMP and will be sending all the info off tomorrow and start cancelling direct debits and offering my token payments. Scary stuff but I just want to get started now. However! I think I may have made a mistake! I have set up a new bank account as one of my creditors is an overdraft on my current account. The new bank are going to contact the old bank to start the switching process but now I'm worried that I may have organised that too early as obviously my current bank are going to close my account and I'll be left with no money and my DDs will not be paid! Should I contact the new bank and ask them just to open the account and I'll be in touch about switching? Do you think it's too late?! I only gave them my current account details late this afternoon so am hoping I might manage to stop them. Does anyone have any advice?

I'm also feeling very scared about what lies ahead - I am addicted to reading the posts on here but sometimes they just make me feel worse! Am I doing the right thing with my DMP?

Sorry, being pathetic but it all just seems so scary just now...

    Hi all,

Just thought I send a hello to all and in particular anyone who will be having their first month anniversary tomorrow, like me:j. Budget has been ok this month and apart from Next deciding they dont want a F&F and Marbles cc having an issue with payments from CCCS, things are good. I did try to phone marbles but after 15 mins on phone waiting to be connected I gave up.

Just updated my signature, this is the first time in about 10 years I've seen a decrease in my debt, even if it is a small one, its a start.

    Take Care all
