Well not been around for a while so I just thought I would give a quick update. I dont know if the DMP is going to start in December still. CCCS wanted something else from us about OH's wage which we have faxed over to them today. I dont know how quickly they will deal with it so I just have my fingers crossed. All my DMP notifications & token payments have been received. 3 of my creditors have been in touch, 2 by writing saying thank you for my letter. Lloyds TSB phoned me and asked me to pay £11,000 to them by the 21st Dec!!!! Explained very politely to the young man that there wasnt the slightest chance in me doing that. He couldnt understand why not!!??!! I received a letter from Lloyds in September saying they would freeze the interest on our credit card but this months statement has the full interest added on again so I have got to write to them again! All in all its very quiet and I am enjoying the peace at the moment. I had last week off, no letters, no chasing etc and just spent time watching the telly, it was very productive as I am all guns blazing again this week. Hope everyone is okay and I will catch up again soon x

Loopyloulou, try not to worry unduly, easier said than done I know, but just to put yur mind at ease a little with regards to Lloyds, Yes, my debt has gone up with them overdraft being the one which has jumped/increased by the most, but all my other creditors have stopped interest, Egg, NR, Abbey and Cahoot. After 2 years have paid almost £13K off my debt, so although they are not playing nice the ones that are, have enabled me to see a dent in my huge debt, for which I'm grateful.

Also, I have gone for miss selling of PPI with Lloyds for my loan and again whilst this is taking a while to be settled, hopefully once it goes my way shall be able to pay off overdraft and credit card with the payment (unless they take it off the loan, then at least that will be totally paid)......so them being difficult does get one back up and you'll learn to fight back.

    Take care,

That's really encouraging! Hoping to start a DMP within the next few weeks. We have 9 creditors and I am pretty sure most of them could be subject to a claim of some sort or other.

At this stage if they play fair so will I and I am happy to pay off everything I believe I owe (should take 4 1/2 years). If any don't play fair then I will hit them with CCA, interest refund and PPI reclaim- what have I got to lose?

Just reading this site gets you like that (I wouldn't have dared even consider it a few weeks ago).

  • Hi everyone!

My Sainsburys interview seemed to go well yesterday, although I suppose you never can really tell until you get accepted/rejected for the job! There were 5 of us in and they just dumped us in a room with an hour long test to do, some of it was surprisingly hard! I did my best though, so there's nothing more I can do. Should hear whether I got the job within the next few days.

Nothing at all hapenning on my DMP front. No post at all for the last few days. I'm actually hoping for letters these days, as I'm painfully aware that I've heard nothing at all from two of my creditors and it's been a month of the DMP. I' worried they will suddenly turn round and tell me they're taking me to court, as they haven't officially accepted the payments. In saying that they haven't officially declined them either. They literally haven't said a peep since they got my notification of DMP letter. Anyone else had this? It's Northern Rock and MBNA that haven't said either way. It's making me nervous. :o

At least I know the others have accepted though, and I won't be chased for other payments - that in itself is a huge relief. Thank heavens for small mercies so they say.
I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.

    Hello everyone

LittleMissSkint-please to hear your interview is over and not too bad so its fingers crossed for you now, particularly as you said how well the hours would suit your family. Dont forget to let us all know when the time comes.

Our DMP has been going for 18 months now and nothing has happened to us even though we havent heard a peep from 2 of our creditors either.Maybe I am too laid back about it but CCCS said at the start that they send the payments regardless and not many creditors refuse money from them.
Try not to get too stressed out about it...I just think that if they get a payment regularly every month they are happy and obviously have plenty of other customers giving them hassle.
    That's just our experience anyway.

Which bank is it? (Probably not important, just wondering) My od is with Natwest and they were my most awkward creditors. They kept adding interest and charges which amounted to over what i was paying them so it went up instead of down!

I kept speaking to them to try and get it resolved, but they kept warning me about defaults and how they were trying to help me save my credit rating (too late mate!) until i eventually said 'I WANT you to default me'. they still sent letters trying to get me to change my mind but eventually sold it to a debt collection agency and now the interest and charges have finally been stopped and the amount if finally going down, back towards the limit! ;)

It barclays which i also have a loan with and they have accepted the payment plan with regards to that, just being awkared with the overdraft. Yes i suppose the sooner they default me the better which alot of the other debts i got have done it already. In my second month of the DMP and still waiting on the catalogues to reply but like some of the others said some accept without even telling you so i suppose just keep doing what i am doing.

  • Hi all,

Just an update (only my 2nd post).

I've got a new bank account all set up now with The Co-Operative bank (chose them as they give a Visa Debit card rather than a Solo card!).

Just waiting for the direct-debit switch form to arrive so I can move everything into the new bank account.

I spoke to CCCS today cause I wanted to know if I would be in time to get the DMP in place for December due to excess to pay out over crimbo.

The lady (who was really nice) simply said to fill in the notification of DMP letters with the date as January, stop my direct debits and make 'token' payments to my creditors and that would be fine - then my DMP can start January 1st 2010 (sounds like a good date to me) :)

My wife is still REALLY stressed about everything and doesn't like talking about our finances at the best of times...when we do she normally ends up in floods of tears :(

She's worried that people will turn up at the door demanding to come in and take the kids toys and our furniture etc and that we'll get charging orders on the home and that we'll be forced to sell. I don't know enough about these things but I said I thought any of that was unlikely and that the worse thing that could happen would be to loose the house but then we could rent privately/council anyhow and be much better off financially anyhow!

If anyone knows anything about the above, please let me know.

Also, got myself a DMP Mutal Support Thread No! - I'm 360 :)

Will be posting letters tomorrow so will update when I hear more.

    Cheers,

    Wayne

Nice one! Let us know when you hear,
I also am getting nervous because apart from Barclaycard ringing over the weekend there has been no letters.....which makes me worried that they are all going to come on the same day causing me to have a panic attack or if they are all being super patient and waiting to get the first payment from the CCCS....who knows in this game eh!
LMS, I heard......can't remember from who, but once one creditor takes you to court the others tend not to bother......I think it was the CCCS who said that, I stress the 'think'. My OH already has a CCJ and A&L have appealed against the court's decision and are taking us back to court in Feb....hopefully it will mean no one else will do the same.......but again, who knows in this game eh!

    Hi Wayne,

Awwww, I feel for your wife! You sound like my OH and I sound like your wife......6 months ago. I too got so emotional and cried and panicked about losing everything, it has taken me 6 months to toughen up but toughen up I did and she will too. Once things get going I am told they do calm down, the important thing is that we are dealing with our debt, not ignoring it.
We are being taken to court in Feb but where I was having stress attacks before about it I am quite calm about it now. Knowledge is power and I have been reading up so much on this wonderful forum and learned so much in such a short space of time it's amazing.
I'm told it is highly unlikely that you will be forced to sell, you have children don't forget, like me too. I am sure you will be just fine. Take a look at our debt in my signature. 74K. I nearly died when I found that out, it was doom and gloom and the end of the world. But a strange thing happens once you accept the situation then you are in a better position to move on.
The support here is fantastic. I am going to be taking lots of advice and doing lots of reclaiming of charges too.

Take care, say hi to your wife and tell her to try not to worry, I still have my wobbly moments which is perfectly natural but you really are both in the best place!
