DMP Mutual Support Thread (Part 6)

Hi Stella,
I spent time hiding things from my OH - I know it may be the most difficult thing to tell them but I do think they need to know and then they may well be really supportive, if they are ware of the situation and not just the DMP it may be different? Your call at the end of the day, but whatever the situation there will be some anger and angst but once that is over it is such a relief that someone you love can help get you through it.....been there, got the t-shirt!
If you don't tell them you will only find that things get harder. Others may also give you advice on this and I cannot say who is right or wrong. Good luck with it all and welcome to the best thread on this forum!:THi all, I'm new on her so don't really know what I'm doin yet!!!
I'm here for a bit of moral support really, Just set up my DMP, sent the letters out to creditors and now waiting to hear from cccs. Hopefully first payment will go on the 1st Dec.
I'm so nervous about it all I just hope I've done the right thing! My OH doesn't know anything about it and I'm a nervous wreck but I know I've got to do something about it. I'm dreading the phone calls but will just have to ride the storm!! I'm hoping you can all help me along the way, I've felt so much better just reading this thread so want to say thanx everyone and good luck)

Hi all, nothing to report yet regarding taking over the DMP myself, I paid CCCS as normal on 1st Nov so this months payment will still be made, it'll be the Dec one when it all kicks in.
I'm just going to keep making payments on the same day so as not to rock the boat too much.
Am expecting a bit of flak but hoping not too much, hope I'm not in for a shock:eek:
Thanks for this Kudox. Please do continue to let us know how it all works out for you. (Surely can't get any worse with the charges you are being whacked with!)0 -
Hi folks hoping my DMP kicks in for Dec 1 as well...the charges are making each debt soar above what it was originally...its as if they are adding on as many charges as they can before the plan starts as they were all notified, all them are ignoring it
argh£12 799 debt 16.10.2009 :eek:0 -
Hi all........feeling so stressed and dizzy again.....and down.....I'm eyeing up a packet of biscuits again.......losing my stamina to resist!!!!
Looks like we are delayed now for the 1st Dec start, it will need to be 1st Jan. My council have cocked up again, delay after delay, yet another form to fill in today and they tell me now it can be up to 14 days before we hear because they are so busy. I was number 20 in the phone queue this morning, hung on and then after 24 minutes got cut off.:mad::mad::mad::mad:
The only way is to fill the $%^&*( form in and send it.
The CCCS can't process our DMP until they get our new monthly council tax payment figure.
I'm gutted really, I just wanted the ball to start rolling I guess, having got everything else organised.
But, we always talk about PMA don't we? So I suppose I must look at it like this.......1st Jan 2010....the start of our DMP. ........
I dont really need those biscuits do I ? I have you lot to keep me going! :grouphug:
(The biks are for my girls anyway and if I scoff them all it's going to be hard to replace them because I quite literally have no spare cash now for anything. Sigh..........)
Ok, time to get on the phone to the CCCS and give them the news.
Sees you all later, have a good day everyone!

Can anyone answer any of my questions on page 143 please?
With your number plate.. are you in arrears with it ?
You should declare it, but you dont have to.
We listed our creditors for Payplan when we started our DMP, but we said at the time we did not wish to include our current Over Drafts with our old banks as we were paing them off separatly and were happy we could do this without the need to include them.
Payplan accepted this for us and said it was fine.
There is no reason to assume you would loose the Plate anyway, under the consumer credit act, and your finance agreement with the Number plate financer you should be entitled to retain the goods if you have paid 2/3rds of the total value.
We may be wrong here, but we see no reason why you would need to include them if you are managing to make the payments, (you could use the pretence that you anticipate that debt will be paid off shortly and therefore donot wish to include it in the DMP)LBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09

Hi impetus!!
Thanx for replying, You're right, I do need to tell him, just gotta pluck up the courage!!!
Had first letter back from loan company this mornin saying they accepted the DMP, it was actually quite a nice letter!!! Phew, one down 5 to go!! I'm sure its not gonna be plain sailing but now at least I know there'll be an end - eventually!!!
Take care0 -
There you go Stella, at least you can show OH you are doing something about it and that things are moving in the right direction. It's not easy telling other half but I think it has to be done and as I say once the shock/anger/whatever has gone then you can move forwards together.
I would take the first agreement as a good sign. If you do get a rejection National Debtline have template letters to send. The gist will be creditor A, B and C have accepted, they think it is reasonable, why not you?
Good luck!0 -
Hi and welcome Stella,
I agree with Impetus, it really would be better to tell your OH. Perhaps they have a "feeling" about it all anyway? Life is too short to have your nerves in shreds when you have enough on your plate with DMP stuff.
Keep us posted and Good Luck!:j:hello::hello::jDMP mutual support thread member 3480 -

I had 3 months left paying off DFS and I told PayPlan. They insisted I add every single debt.
So I don't know really. Keep quiet or declare it. YOU decide. *Said in a geordie Big Brother stylie voice*DMP mutual support thread No: 2430
