DMP Mutual Support Thread (Part 6)

I had 3 months left paying off DFS and I told PayPlan. They insisted I add every single debt.
So I don't know really. Keep quiet or declare it. YOU decide. *Said in a geordie Big Brother stylie voice*
Makes me wonder sometimes ... were all in kind of the same situation, yet the infomaton we recieve / way things are delt with is subtally different.
I suppose if you read the small print on a DMP, Yes, all debt should be declaired and included in the offset. We are in the proccess of either selling / swapping my car for a smaller, cheaper one, thus being able to increase our payments by almost £200 a month, yet the terms of the DMP, and the fact we now have recorded defaults against us as a couple has meant we have been refused finance on another vehicle even though it is with the same company, its a Hire Purchase agreement, and we have almost 12 years of previous history (good history, never missing a single payment) have menat we cannot do this simple thing.
I think the decision as they say is yours .... unless your giving your creditors cause to scrutinise, and your repayments are promot and ontime, youll probably be fine.LBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09

I do believe though that HP is different to agreements you may have elsewhere. Would be interesting to know exactly where the number plate falls in terms of that agreement. Check the small print as 2spicy says.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430

The trouble with trying to hide a credit agreement (HP or otherwise) is that creditors can check your credit file & see the payments you've made. If the number plate is up to date at £21 a month & yet the rest are behind & being offered lower amounts they aren't going to look too kindly on it. You could get lucky though with none of them checking your file (they don't always do it).
As far as I'm aware they cannot see whats being paid towards a current account overdraft so that would be slightly different (unless its been defaulted).
It's certainly brought up an interesting point. Gives me something else to try & find out about!!:j DMP mutual support thread member - 135:j0 -
There is no reason to assume you would loose the Plate anyway, under the consumer credit act, and your finance agreement with the Number plate financer you should be entitled to retain the goods if you have paid 2/3rds of the total value.
Hi 2spicy,
I must admit I never knew that. I knew that once you had paid a certain amount back (2/3rds or whatever) you was entitled to hand the goods back & walk away without having to pay the rest but I never knew you were entitled to keep them after that amount is paid. If only I had known that earlier.:j DMP mutual support thread member - 135:j0 -
Just thought I'd say Hi havent been on for a few weeks!
All plodding along as usual - thinking of going it alone with my credit cards though as Payplan have been missing the payment date with Natwest - but only recently.
Only 3 cards now so should be fairly easy to just carry on paying as I am, infact I'd be able to pay more - what do you reckon?
Have landed myself a super duper new job - in London, getting paid mega but the travel is gonna steal all that!! Start early December
Hope your all well, and looking forward to Christmas!! Did anyone else get the letter from Payplan about not missing payments 'creditors will not accept Christmas as an excuse' blah blah blah!!Debt Free Target: December 2011
:T I did it in November 2011!! :T0 -
Hi, I am in my second month of a DMP and most of it is going fine. Most of the creditors so far as accepted but i had a letter from the bank which our overdraft is with and they have said they are not accepting the proposed payment and now this morning got another saying that if full payment is not made then full recovery will be put in action, then there was a full paragraph about court and what i can ask the court for. What experiences have you had with your overdraft debt, did this go to a debt collector and then they accepted payment or will it go straight to court and will they skip the debt collector, Really confused now which it dont take much to do lol. I am also shocked that between the first letter and the second they have wacked on 200 pound approx onto the debt. Tried to phone my Dmp this morning and got a rather unpleasant person on the other end and said someone will call me back, the girl that is handling my case is lovely so it was a shock to get someone so rude today on the phone. I am not so worried about the others as i know in the end they will most likely will accept but the bank seems to be dragging their heels.A bargin is only a bargin if its needed not wanted :money:0

We just received Abbey credit card bill - they are charging us £12 for being over card limit (due to interest) and a further £12 for not making a payment on time. I thought they weren't supposed to charge £12 twice? Or did I misunderstand.....MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Hello all, hope everyone is ok, and staying dry! Welcome to all the new posters
Bailey59, hope all is ok with you, I see you haven't had the decision yet you dreaded - at least you have more time to work things out.
Interesting week - I've had HSBC start to phone me several times a day - they defaulted me a couple of weeks ago on my c/card account and according to the Justabank site haven't accepted anything yet and are still "pending". I suppose they're still trying to push me into this stupid managed loan thing. Happily ignoring for the time being anyway.
Also have had a letter from Red Castle Recoveries - they have taken over my Post Office card account, which was also defaulted a couple of weeks ago and who rejected the DMP so far. It's what I suppose is the usual blurb about the full amount being due and what legal steps theyr'e going to take towards recovering it. I'm forwarding a copy onto Payplan so they know who's handling the account now and reading up on Justabank it says a debt collection agency won't have been told about my DMP so Payplan will contact them and make an offer as before (I felt better reading that! Not too worried yet but it still wasn't very nice to receive).
Aside from that things ticking over nicely - payments are going through ok and as most of the interest has been stopped now my total is actually beginning to come down!
Done quite a bit more Christmas shopping today, taking advantage of the Boots 3 for 2's and any vouchers and points I can scrape together. This is the first Christmas for a long time paid for up front, instead of on credit, and even with the budgeting, feels very good! :jDMP Mutual Support Thread No 336 - proud to be a number!LBM - June 20th 2009Total of Horror  - [STRIKE]£39,909[/STRIKE] August 2010 £35,421 :jDFD - Feb 2018 (approx). The Post Office card decided to whack on two charges of £12 just before handing my account over to Red Castle
Also I pay Tesco card £11.83 a month via Payplan, and they add on a £12 late payment fee every month. At least they've stopped interest now so that debt's staying about the same, instead of going up . . . :rolleyes:DMP Mutual Support Thread No 336 - proud to be a number!LBM - June 20th 2009Total of Horror  - [STRIKE]£39,909[/STRIKE] August 2010 £35,421 :jDFD - Feb 2018 (approx).
