Hi RachieD1, Its not much fun on your own is it when your hubby works away. I only told my mum and dad last week, my mum has asked me if we would like to move in with her, lovely guesture, but not what we want to have to do. My dad just said he though I had learned my lesson before but he was fine about it. Its a huge weight off your shoulders telling family if you can or so I think, specially if you are having to deal with this on your own. My sister has been great, she has now confided in me that she is really struggling too and cant afford to pay her debts so I am trying to help her aswell. You never can tell who is in the same situation as you, I bet there are people around you that are in the same boat, they just darent admit it yet either. Saying that now you have found this board you wont feel like you are alone quite so much as people on here will bend over backwards to give you support and advice.

  • If you're sending stuff away now you should get a 1st Dec start OK. I sent my statements etc to CCCS on 15th Oct, and I have got a 1st Nov start, despite the postal strkes. :T I haven't got my welcome pack yet, but they said I can just ask for a transcash slip at the PO and pay it that way.

Maybe a silly Q but when they say payments are due on the 1st do I have to pay it exactly on the 1st? Or does it take a few days to go through? I don't want anything to go wrong!
I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.

Make sure you put one of the little blue men in, everytime I look at mine they make me smile lol. Just remember we are here to help and support because we are in the same situation as you. I am being positive because I have faced up to my debts and I am no longer in denial. Positive is now the way forward for me and most people I'm guessing on here. ps cant help with the messy hubby, I think its a fault in their system somewhere which goes back a long long time!

So I could be on for the 1st Dec then. So before Xmas I might be on a DMP and feel like celebrating (cheaply of course!) Did your daughter come back from her halloween party yet?

  • Me again:rolleyes:, in my pack from the CCCS it says that I dont need to send the payment now, just send all the statements through to them with the DMP signed by us. Then it says that they will send us the Welcome Pack and in there they will tell us how to pay the first instalment.........Bailey59 are you sending your first instalment by the 8th Nov?
getting confused again:o So sorry if Ive missed some info along the way, just when I thought I was getting organised too, I need a drink!!!!

As far as I understand I think it's ok a day or 2 before or after....but after the first payment dont we need to pay by direct debit? Sorry, havent got that far with them yet so not sure about that bit, I just remember reading somewhere about second and subsequent payments.
It's not a silly question at all.........you should read some of mine from a few days ago......felt like such a twonk after LOL

  • Think I might have balls up mine with CCCS, i've sent off the pack with all my info and a cheque for my first payment to CCCS, even though i've not recieved a start date. That's what happens when you are trying to get it done before the postal strike with a very demanding 16 month old wanting to play on the computer!! Do you think they will just use it for my first months payments????

Northstar and peeps, I'm pretty sure I was told my 2nd payment would be on the 1st Jan by dd, then on the 1st each month after, and the 1st payment would need to be paid on the 1st Dec at the post office. They did tell me a lot of stuff so may be wrong about that. Thats assuming the DMP starts 1st Dec.

Well done RachieD1 on doing your signature, its a brave thing to do.

For all you new DMP-ers, in your welcome packs you get a transcash slip for making the first payment. Pay that into the post office as near to the first of the month as possible then ring CCCS/Payplan/whoever and tell them the first payment is on its way and was paid in on the xxth of whatever month. (CCCS make their payments to the creditors on the 25th of the month, getting to keep the 3 weeks or so interest earned on the money you've paid in - which is fair enough, considering the service they are giving you.) After that first payment all subsequent payments will be by direct debit, coming out of your account on the 1st of each month. Fingers crossed it all goes well for you all.
One life - your life - live it!
  • Thanks for that, I was panicking there for a second and was checking the pack again in case I missed something!
Right, I think it's all going to go in the post tomorrow, the signed DMP and statements to CCCS and the Notification of DMP letters to our 12 creditors.
If it gets stuck in the post, it gets stuck........
or should I wait until Saturday and send them all? Or Monday?
    :huh::huh:
    decisions decisions :(
To sign or not to sign......still havent decided that one either:o:confused:
