  • Hi there, I've got my £2 postal orders ready to go, but I'm confused about where to send them.

Do I send them with the payment slips that came with my bills and enclose the "here is my token payment" letter?

    Or something else?

Please can you advise, I wanted to get them in the post tonight.

    Many thanks, CC xx

  • Hi!

Are you starting a DMP? If so you should have Notification of DMP letter, just send one of those to each creditor with your token payment. If not DMP then just send your token payment with the here is my token payment letter. :o
I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.

    Thanks LMS :)

I'm with Payplan and they gave me a sample letter. It's just that a lot of the addresses for making a payment are just PO Box numbers so I don't know what to do for the best, I'm getting in a bit of a tizzy about it :(

  • If you look through your statements etc from your creditors you should usually somewhere see an address to send payments to - just use that. If it's a PO box, so be it. Just send them all recorded delivery and keep your receipts for your POs, that way you have all the proof you need if they say they didn't get it. :D

I think i'm off to do my signature, it's comforting to see others with huge debts and still being positive, i've had so many sleepless nights and arguments with OH about money, hopefully soon the only thing to argue about will be how messy he is, anyone know of a good company to help me with that?

I'll have a word with my sister the laundry fairy. How's that? x :rotfl:

I dont believe this. We have 2 bank accounts - my husbands is with Lloyds TSB who are our biggest creditor and we have a joint one with the Nat West who are another one of our creditors.

I have just opened a new bank account with the Halifax and today I started cancelling dd's from both of the above accounts and phoning everyone to tell them the new Halifax account details.

Now I have just read the Lloyds and the Halifax linked. That means I cant have an account with the Halifax!

So all I have done so far has been a complete waste and I am back to square one.

I have received my DMP pack from CCCS and was going to start writing to everyone this week but now I cant cos if I do Lloyds & Nat West will be after me and if I put my money in the Halifax account Lloyds could take it all and leave me in an overdraft with Halifax which I cannot do!

So now I urgently need a new bank account but I dont know who to get one with. It cant be linked to Lloyds or the Nat West. I went on a site that showed all the banks and I cant remember Lloyds having the Halifax with it.

I cant afford my minimum payments this month now to everyone, I so wanted to get the letters off and re-arrange my dd's but now after the 3rd of Nov all the dd's I have cancelled to re-start will have to be cancelled with the Halifax and now I dont have any dd's in place at all.

I feel like crying but Im at work, this is such a mess now, I feel sick. I am going for a walk now to try and clear my head. Please please please can someone help me out

I have just posted the above on a separate thred but wanted to put it on here 2. I have just been for a walk to clear my head and I am going to phone everyone back and see if I can pay by cheque this month, hopefully then I can strill write to my creditors as planned and hopefully I will have a dd set up for next month. I think I might try Barclays.

Still feel like I have had the wind and stuffing knocked out of me but trying to remain calm

I'm so sorry to hear what's happened today bailey59, I can imagine how you must have felt.
But listen, you can sort this out, of course they can all accept cheques, it will be fine, honest. It will be a pain ringing around again but it wil be a quick call just to check where to send the payment or whatever.
As for which bank, our creditors include Abbey, Barclays, A & L, Lloyds, the first 2 I have been with for 36 years! The second with 21, and both havent been helpful. Think carefully and check that list of who is linked with who, I can dig mine out in a bit if you need it. Been out all day, just got in so need to get the dinner sorted then I will be back.
Before I forget, I went with the Cooperative Bank because you can pay in at the post office, and withdraw too, internet banking and telephone banking.
Thinking of you and sending you a big :grouphug:
Remember it doesnt matter you not having DD in place, cheques will do!
    Everything will be alright.

bailey59 - if you've cancelled all DDs, phone up those that you do need to pay (utility bills etc), explain the problem and see if they'll accept payment over the phone for that month? Obv that maybe a problem if you don't have an account, but maybe a friend of relative can help?

Regarding basic accounts, Natwest, HSBC, Co-op are all good enough I think.

Hi bailey59! I read your post and it sent alarm bells ringing because I opened a Lloyds Classic Account and have a Marbles card which is apparently HBOS!

Anyway, I got so distressed I called the Personal Banking Manager who kindly gave me her mobile number last week when Lloyds messed up my Internet Banking stuff.

I told her that I was worried because of the Lloyds/HBOS thing and that one of my creditors is HBOS.

She told me that, although HBOS are under the Lloyds umbrella, they are bound by the banking regulations or something and are not authorised to take money from my Lloyds account.

She was very helpful and said that she will call me tomorrow to make an appointment for me to come in and see her and she'll talk me through it and put my mind at rest.

I hope that helps you bailey59

    With love, CC xx

    Hi everyone :hello:

Well, a bit of a mixed week for me. I rang Kensington while I was at home and asked them about my Citi Mastercard. Its still over the limit (just) but it seems that when the payment they are getting reaches the level of the minimum payment it would seem that they are within their rights to start slapping interest on again!
Now, I have an Evans card that is getting more than the minimum payment and they have been ok - however, Citi have not defaulted me and the card is not charged off or anything, so it would seem that its going to be another £25 per month I will have to find!! Im really struggling - again - despite my DMP - with OH being on strike things are tight but Im determined not to lower my payment as I know that in a few months hopefully I will be able to start thinking about F&F's. Luckily, Xmas pressies are taken care of but I feel really bad that its no way on the scale it was last year! Feeling a bit down :(
Pay is due to hit account in about oooh... 15 minutes :p and its depressing to think its all going out more or less immediately!
Still - its not all bad. Me and OH are going to Wetherspoons for curry night tomorrow and I need to pay balance for Xmas party so its not all going on bills!
