scouselad, I was wondering the same thing. I have a small debt with GE Money, and Capital One of about £100 each and was wondering if I could pay each of those off first, or would the money have to be split between all creditors?
The other thing I'm wondering about is reclaiming bank charges, I'm so scared to do this as I'm not in the best position to be doing this, would they just say ''well have your money back but we're transfering your account to a debt collector''?
Good morning all and hope it's a decent day for you all : )DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 315Married 03/04/2010with many thanks to MSE Wedding boardLO 23/03/12 Special thanks to TTC thread0 -
Hey SL1974
I can't find it, but do remember reading on this DFW forum from someone in a similar position with a small amount - I think it was around £150 they owed to one creditor - and their DMP company was happy for them to direct it purely at this debt. The other creditors then get more anyway as the whole debt payment is divided by one less creditor, so I think it's a win/win situaiton for everyone.
Sorry I can't find the link on this one - give CCCS a call to confirm.LBM - March 2009, DMP Start - April 2009

I hope you are all well and your debt is slowly reducing
All is quiet on my DMP front at the moment and I have to say I am enjoying every second (while it lasts)
Anyway I have managed to open a savings account with Tesco, so hopefully that £10.00 of points will come in very handy, when I eventually get them, I am thinking into the future at the moment about Full and Finals, If I can manage to throw a few quid into my savings account every now and then I may be in a position to make some offers in the near future, for example one of my debts is around £50, would CCCS let me pay this off If I could get the cash together or would they expect the £50 to be split between all of my creditors ( they will probably end up with £2.50 each
) I would rather get rid of one creditor than pay them all a ridiculous amount.
I don't reckon there's anything wrong with that. When we've had some spare change we've put it towards one of the smaller debts to try and get rid of them, so that the extra cash can go towards the larger ones. My logic is - the larger ones are obviously going to be my more long term ones (mainly the ones that are still having charges added to them and not going down as quickly).
But yes, you could also just double check by going to the ask cccs counsellor link.
Good luck!DFD February 2012

HELP!
Just when I thought things were quiet, I go home today for lunch, and there's a letter waiting for me, I'm really confused and worried now.
It is from Shoosmiths and states that they have been instructed by Natwest that I have failed to repay the amounts outstanding on my accounts and that FULL payment is due in the next 14 days! I don't understand this as I received a letter from Natwest in August stating they will accept the proposed payments from cccs but my account would need to be terminated asap making the full balance due but I could carry on with the payments via cccs. I'm uttery confused and worried about what this means as the letter goes on about court action. any help would be grately received.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 315Married 03/04/2010with many thanks to MSE Wedding boardLO 23/03/12 Special thanks to TTC thread0 -
Hi all, well received lots of 'your payments are late' letters this morning and a default notice from one - interesting!
Most interesting thing is that Lloyds CC told CCCS they wouldn't accept my DMP but looking online at my statement, which was produced yesterday they didn't add any interest onto it, anyone else had this, sure it is the calm before the storm with them as owe Lloyds approx £25K in total with CC, Loans x 2 and O'Drafts! any advice please!

obviously i don't know for sure as i haven't got the letter, BUT I think if you read it again it will say words like 'may' and 'should' and this is just a scare tactic letter. It probably means it has been defaulted and passed on to a DCA. this doesn't mean anything really, but if i was you i'd send the letter (a copy of) to CCCS to let them know. and speak to them if you're worried. I really think it's nothing tho and just trying to scare you into giving them money!
Scouselad, i definitely think it's worth paying of smaller debts as you go along! and as far as i understand you can do this at any time, but you do it yourself. CCCS and PP won't do this for you! just a thought tho, not sure if it's worth offering a F&F of less. might not be worth it for such a small amount but when i talked to pp about paying off a bigger one they suggested this.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 261Debt at start of DMP (Jan 2009) = 46,147.86 Now = 36,826.98DFD = [STRIKE]Jan 2014[/STRIKE] May 2013 ([strike]60[/strike] [STRIKE]52[/STRIKE] 41 payments to go)NSD:Nov 12/12:jDec 9/10 Jan 5/10Slowly but surely:coffee:0 -

Hi I'm no expert as only just started myself, but from reading through this thread it seems as though this is standard proceedure when they terminate and account so the full amount becomes due. Think you can either contact the DCA directly or contact CCCS and they will. From what I've read the court action letters usually have wordings like 'may' or 'might' take you to court if the full amount isn't paid within x amount of time, in them just to try and scare people into paying asap as the DC have usually bought the debt from the bank so they want to get as much back as possible!
Hope this helps a little, but I would contact CCCS so they can start the ball rolling with the DCA.
Good luck and try not to worry (easier said than done);)Slimming World Newby 75.5lbs for starters, another 75lbs after that!:rotfl:One small step for me one giant leap for my backside!;):rotfl:

Thank you Daffy and muddlemess.
I have just bit the bullet (after 2 cigarettes) and rang Soosmiths. They were not in the slightest bit nasty or argumentative (must have been lucky this time!). But what they are saying is that my loan with Natwest has been passed to them as they are the internal solicetors for Natwest, so I don't believe Natwest has sold the loan on. But they say that my payment amount has not been accepted for my loan, (they have accepted for my CC), so what they want is an extra £32.26 per month otherwise they will issue court proceedings meaning that I'll get a ccj. If i can come up with the £32.26 they won't action any court proceedings, but if I don't respond within 14 days they will do this and I will receive papers. I explained there's no way I can do this, nor treat them favourably, also told them that I will be getting 2 pay raises in the next 6 months so could they accept for 6 months then have another look at it. Anyway sorry for long post, I just want to get as much advice as possible before doing anything else.
Thank you in advance.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 315Married 03/04/2010with many thanks to MSE Wedding boardLO 23/03/12 Special thanks to TTC thread0 -
Again I still believe this is still scare tactics cleo! Speak to CCCS and they'll tell you. they are not not allowed to say you WILL get a ccj if you don't pay more. and i doubt very much they are really solictors (I watched this program about it all the other day, and it's bascially the same 'natwest' (or whatever company) bloke on the phone saying he's someone else or using another company name! obviously i don't know this for a fact, but they do try and use these tactics. Stand your ground. tell them this is what they will get paid as it's all you CAN pay and tell them to speak to CCCS if they have a problem.
Now phone CCCS, tell them about the letter and what was said, and ask them (if you want, you don't have to) to resend the I&E. don't whatever you do agree to pay more!DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 261Debt at start of DMP (Jan 2009) = 46,147.86 Now = 36,826.98DFD = [STRIKE]Jan 2014[/STRIKE] May 2013 ([strike]60[/strike] [STRIKE]52[/STRIKE] 41 payments to go)NSD:Nov 12/12:jDec 9/10 Jan 5/10Slowly but surely:coffee:0
