Hi fellow DMP-ers - newbies, oldies and erm those sort of in the middle like me!
I've posted this as a new thread but thought I'd ask directly on the DMP mutual support thread as well.
Does anyone have any info on how expenditure guidelines are worked out, please? For example how much is acceptable under 'clothing and footwear' for a single person with 1 dependent?
At the bottom of my CCCS DMP budget sheet or 'Client Expenditure Summary' it says "this budget is prepared in accordance with the BBA/MAT expenditure guidance'. I've Googled this but without much success.
As you can guess, I'm having trouble with my CCCS budget! I don't want to max all my figures (although tempted :rotfl:) because I'll be shooting myself in the foot and it will take even longer than the current 7 years to pay off my DMP, but at the moment it all seems such a struggle and I think I've underestimated my figures as it all seems much too tight. I know it's supposed to 'pinch abit', and I am cutting costs where possible but I seem to be worrying about money 24 hours a day at the mo.
Thanks in anticipation for any help.

Good luckAugust 2009 - Debt free - August 2013
Total Debt - £21,478
New Debt - £0.000 -
Wow you lot don't half chat some! :rotfl: Hope you are all well? I think my Postman has done a runner with someone's wife cause I haven't seen him for ages  I hardly get any letters now not even monthly statements of my account.
Do the creditors forget you after a certain date?..........I wish they'd forget my balance thenAll those months of BIG THREATENING WORDS LIKE BALIFF, INTENDED COURT ACTION and then !!!!!! nothing! The miserable sods, after all the money I spent with them too, they can't even be bothered to send me a statement
I was so looking forward to seeing my wage slip this month too after increasing my hours thinking I am going to be the rich kid for once but OH has been laid off for a few days and my car is due for a service this month (been putting it off since March!) Plus I'll get hit for tax, NI and pension fees so in one hand and out the other  I JUST WANT A FREE MONTH WAGES PLEASE! I really need to keep a check on my bank too, I'm such an idiot thinking I was going to default on one of my direct debits but the child benefit went in the same day. DUH!! Sort it out Rach! So lucky me for once eh?
I have been on this DMP lark for over a year now and I think I am still rubbish with my money!I have kept spending diaries, adding up and took away balances before they even go in the bank but I always seem to think we are richer than what we are, hence the worry about missing the direct debit
I do value my money more and always on the look out for the bargains when doing the food shop but the urge to go out and have a massive shopping spree to spend, spend, spend is still there!
Does it ever go away?
Take care

PPI
If anyone is querying the mis-selling of PPI then go to the top of this page and click the red box with Martin's 'Reclaim £1000s' section. It has all the ins and outs regarding payment protection plans that came with credit cards and loans. It is more than likely you were mis-sold and you can get your money back.DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -
Hi all,
Had hard day at work today and came home to a letter from barclaycard loan saying that they have issued a default notice which I should receive shortly. They have decide after consideration, not to accept my offer of payment via cccs. They are closing the account and forwarding it to the Bank's recovery department.
What does this mean? Am totally stressed out.
Please don't worry.
A default notice isn't that bad. I had so many at one time I thought I could decorate my hall, stairs and landing! No seriously, all it means is when you opened the account you agreed that you would pay on time, meet minimum payments etc and now you haven't. You have defaulted on the original agreement you made with the creditor. They are just letting you know this ok?
Every creditor has their own 'inhouse' debt collectors, they may try to make out that the debt has been passed on but it is still the same company probably operating under a different name for instance NDR are all the catalogue companies like Littlewoods, Blair, Oliver and Scott are the inhouse collectors for Halifax.
I am not sure who Barclays collectors are but I assure you the debt is still with Barclays and their 'Recovery Department' is a few people in the same office printing the same 'YOU MUST PAY US IMMEDIATELY' letters off to all their customers who have defaulted.
You should continue to make your payments to CCCS, do nothing and sit tight, ignore the PLEASE CALL IMMEDIATELY pleas on any of the letters, it is a clever ploy by the creditor to scare you into calling them where you will be pressurised into trying to make extra payments you can't afford.
Hope this helps? Just continue with your DMP payment, CCCS will keep paying Barclays on your behalf and I have yet to hear of a creditor REFUSING payment from a debtor on this forum!DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -

Great news Mozzyc re: Abbey. I hate Lloyds, still adding interest to my debt also, the only creditor to still be doing this, apparently they do not stop interest at all. At least it's at a reduced amount, but why can't they stop it all together like the others and give us a chance to pay the bloody thing off.
Oh well, we can only go upwards, there's light at the end of the tunnel and when I've paid all money, will never, ever touch another credit card, will be a cash only person, if I don't have it, will save for it.
Good luck

Lloyds are still charging me too, mind you my ppi reclaim is a bit of in yer face to them but I am paying £50 odd a month and their charge is costing £40 odd BUT the other debt balances are coming down because they all have stopped charges and interest for now. It's hard not to get down about it but try and stay positive if your other creditors have stopped interest and charges.DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -

Hi middler!
We have £60 for 2+2 (obviously we don't spend that) but have you tried adding a few pounds in the school meals/meals for work section OR travel to work OR opticians/dentist to eek out the figures a bit to suit your pocket better. A few pounds here and there should make the difference.
I know what you mean about constantly having the worry of your debt free date gnawing away at you, I have had this row with OH lots of times when going through our budget. We agreed if it was for one year we would skint ourselves to get out of the debt once and for all but 7 years is a long long time living hand to mouth every month.
Be realistic with your figures but add extras on if you can, only you know if you are taking the pee if you get what I mean? It's ok paying the creditors a big whack amount every month but they won't think no better of you for doing so and if it leaves you struggling and miserable then what is the point?
You deserve to be content even if you do owe a few people money. We over estimated on ours a bit but I'm glad cause OH wages are so unpredictable. I go to work and have to pay enough out just day to day living like council tax, I don't want to struggle and be miserable trying to plough through the debt too. I could go on the dole and go bankrupt and then they would get sod all anyway! Ok not the way to go obviously but I hope you see what I mean?don't stress about the creditors! they get what they get and you should think positive that you are in a position to pay back what you had from them even if it is a small amount each month.
So sorry I have waffled:o:o but I hope it makes sense?

Morning!
TP - long time no hear!! hello!!
DG - ditto all TP has said. Our orig budget was soooooo tight there is no way we would have been able to stick to it. The idea of a DMP is for you to be able to live, not just exist. Call CCCS and spk to them, you'll only suceed at this if you honest with yourself on how much you need to live on. My dfd was 10 years on the orig budget I set myself as was determined to keep as tight as poss so that we could clear as quick as poss. After speaking to CCCS ended up with dfd of nearly double, but a far more realistic budget. I see you have you + 1.....you want to be able to treat yourselves now and again, I don't mean a week in spain or anything but a trip bowling or to the cinema once a month is not unreasonable. Your 7 year dfd is gonna end up feeling like 14 years if you're penny pinching everyday and worrying about money, the idea of the dmp is so that you have control and STOP worrying about money. Call CCCS today,be honest and say you're struggling as long as you don't take the pi££ the odd few quid here and there isn't gonna make a lot of difference to your creditors but could mean the difference between a life or just existing for you and your family.
Not meant to sound like I'm lecturing you;), sorry if it does.
Take care
