Feeling a bit down today as I have received a letter from CCCS saying one of my creditors does not accept the reduced payment offer.

They say not to do anything as they will carry on - but that the creditor will probably default me and pass the debt on.

I knew it would probably happen - and that setting up the DMP was not going to be easy, but when I got the letter I felt sooooooo deflated.

    Hi Rach

Don't lose heart.... A creditor passing on your debt to a DCA is probably the best thing that can happen. DCAs are much more likely to accept your payment offer than original creditors, so may pave the way for an easier life.

This new DMP-life is full of ups and down, but please keep your chin up! DG

Thanks DG - I know you're right, and I'm being a bit sensitive, taking it personally when I'm just an account number to them ;)

    No worries at all ;).

I too am in the early stages of a DMP and am in it for the long haul :( so I can really relate to how you seem to be feeling. I was really helped by Newlywed's post on the previous page of this thread (page 6, #105). I keep re-reading it to remind myself that I've done the right thing by entering into a DMP!

    Can anyone help?

I have a £250 overdarft with LLoyds TSB (wish I had tried a bit harder to pay it off now before starting my DMP!)

They added charges for non paymenst & made me go over my agreed overdraft by £23, got a letter today, they have added on 10 charges of £6 and a monthly charge of £15 (so a total of £75) for being over my agreed overdraft, and next month will charge 10 x £15! (plus the monthly charge making a total of £165!!) so my overdraft will be double what it was very soon!

    Can they do this?
They have also not accepted my DMP payments & have told the CCS that my account number is not valid!

    Hi icecube

as a banker (yes really!) - this sounds like charges upon charges - Lloyds throw themselvs in the ring as 'responsible lenders' - this is something they should not be doing & can refund the charges.

if it clearly is charges upon charges - talk to them & see what they say.

    Hi Sas

Its going to be a long bumpy road out of debtsville - but at least we're on the road. ;) I seem to have had a one way ticket hurtling towards this dump for a while!!

Hope you (and me) start to feel a bit brighter tomorrow.

  • I've been in DMP for almost 2 yrs but am growing disillusioned with the idea it's gonna take a decade or more to be DF - has anyone on a DMP considered changing to a DMP??
Looking for solutions and hoping for a miracle!

what do you mean by charges upon charges? & what can I do? we have 3 overdrafts with lloyds (all included in our DMP) and have had the same response from the CCCS regarding all 3, lloyds are not accepting the DMP offer as they say the account numbers are invalid (they are correct I have checked) so I assume they will also start adding these rediculous charges on to the other 2 as well, if there is any way I can stop them I would really appreciate it
    Thanks

Hi guys (new and not so new! :D)

Just popped on after typing my very last letter to a creditor for a ppi reclaim, I won't let them win, I won't let them win.... I'm hoping as soon as they see who it is they cough up straight away. I hope I'm well known on the staff room notice board for being a bit arsey :D

Wanted to say chin up to you guys, it's really crap some days isn't it? I have only been on a DMP for a year and have about another 140 odd payments to make to CCCS before we are free and I wonder whether I will ever get into the habit of saving. I just can't save :o I'm crap at it, I want to join the challenges of save a penny a week and all that but I know I'll spend it. I might be deluded but I still check out the prices of holidays on Thomas Cook now and again, just in case by some miracle 40k is wiped out overnight and we are debt free! :o:o:o I suppose thats my way of dealing with the debt, I still have little dreams of what I want to do when I am finally free from it all.

A DMP brings so many emotions out of you, one minute you are happy starting out on your long 'getting debt free' journey, next; angry ready to fight any cheeky DCA who dares to knock on your door, then you are a wreck worrying over debts and stay awake some nights thinking how debt has ruined your life and how a few coins and bits of paper can make you feel so damn depressed. But the one thing that keeps me going with it all is this thread and you guys. (CHEESE!! :rotfl:) Honestly I think you are all great and Devon girl - you definitely HAVE done the right thing, you wouldn't have met us lot otherwise!:rotfl:

Keep going with it guys, every quid counts now whereas before it didn't. I know you are not supposed to dwell on the past but we think about it alot how much in the brown stuff we were but we are doing something we should have done a good few years ago. We have definitely learnt a lesson and it just goes to show that you never really needed all the credit in the first place anyway. We are much happier now.
