    d to make everything better!

Skinty- i had the same when i went to the NHS antenatal classes - no-one else there seemed to know anything about babies or pregnancy or labour and i seemed to be answering all the miwifes questions because the rest of them just sat there blank faced. OH thought it was really funny and just kept writing the word "boffin" on the handouts with arrows pointing to me....

I'm hopiung the NCT classes will be better, i'll be 36/37 weeks when i have mine though!

These aren;t the NHs ones - I'm not doing those at all. They are by Birthmatters, which is made up of people who used to be NCT but broke away some years ago and formed this other group.

So everyone has paid to be there. I guess maybe most people don't read loads of books and we are the weird ones, but I thought these days people at least used tinternet for stuff

Hi Skinty, when you say you might have a lotus birth does this mean keeping the placenta attached until it falls off or just leave a a few minutes before clamping?

ugh, I'm feeling pretty rough since late this morning. Didn't really get MS at all and now that I'm supposedly 'past' all that, I feel like there's a boulder in my tummy and could quite easily throw up if my body let me. Can't think of anything dodgy I might've eaten??

SM, since yesterday braxton hicks have been in my back, worried that I could have most of my contractions in my back, she's obviously moved into a new position. That would be horrible!

Just popping in to say we had the scan this morning and despite the bleeds the baby is fine:j:j:beer::beer::D

We saw what its face as it was sleeping on its side facing the camera and then the scanner woke it up and it went nuts and she found it really difficult to get a measurement as it was moving around so much so pics are rubbsih but we are just so glad that it is ok - obviously everyones sticky bean vibes have worked:D thank you ladies:T

I am not sure about the chances of miscarriage now at 11+3 but i know we are definatley on the home straight towards the seccond trimester:j

I am due to see consultant next then midwife then 20 week scan.

Lotus is when you leave it until the placenta falls off of its own accord.

Even if I don't do it, I will do delayed cord cutting which is leaving the cord until it has stopped pulsating before you clamp it.

I also hope to use my own cord ties rather than have the plastic clamp in that case, so it's more comfortable for the baby.

i love the idea of Lotus but Oh is not so keen and I'm not convinced that there are good reasons for it, like there are for delayed cord cutting.

I will probably decide on the day as the MW is now looking into Lotus as I'm the first woman to mention it in this area, and in a way I'd like to do it so that other women then get that choice as well, cos then the MW would be experienced in it.

But if the placenta is all gunky and grim then it can get cut off! :rotfl:
