i think people go a bit ott with the washing sometimes. I have heard of people washing a towel after one use. I think its unecessary and expensive.:footie:0

Right that's my evening sorted having read this thread. Home, change sheets, shower and leg shave, then I can have that amazing clean sheet feeling when I sink into bed tonight :j
Back to the question though, it's just me in a king size bed (cue the violins) so probably every two to three weeks, maybe more often in the summer. It's been interesting reading everyone's answers though as I sort of assumed everyone changed theirs weekly...0 -

Thats why I only change mine fortnightly now, instead of twice weekly. It just doesn't seem to get dirty with me in it. I do wear clean pjs every night though.0 -
Fortnightly for me too. I've a superking bed so only iron pillowcases, never sheets and I've one 100% cotton duvet cover that has to be ironed so use that one only when I've not got a clean one ready to put on!
If my dd's come to stay for I'll only wash the spare set if they've been here for more than 2/3 nights! If the same couple are coming back within a short time, I'll keep them on till after then:eek:. I do change them if I have different people to stay though! I'm not that bad!
DGS has his cot sheet changed every few weeks (he only sleeps in it once a week for his afternoon naps)."It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -

I change my PJ's twice a week. OH doesn't wear any so his side of the bed is the worst side LOL!"It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
I used to wash sheets/duvet every week, towels every use, pjs everyday. But I don't anymore. I just can't keep up with the washing and don't want to spend my whole life being a washer woman. Once a fortnight like others have said seems to be about right. I couldn't go longer than that - I love clean sheets.0

I iron my bedding. which I change twice a week usually. It me in there ever night, dh three nights a week, and he's a hot sleeper, plus the cats, and the dog....i I leave them a week I don't like it. we don't wear anything in bed.
We used to have people staying all the time (four spare rooms) and I have to say I found changing four beds every day was a hug drain of time (and probably money).
I hate iron fitted sheets. when I had a dryer someone taught me the nifty trick of shoving them in the dryer till almost dry then getting them on the bed quickly, and sometimes that was althey needed otherwise a quick press on the bed!
TBH flat sheets and pillowslips don't take very long lots of folding but all those straight lines, means it can be done in front of the telly!:o0 -
About once a month, but more if ts very hot or I have been unwell. Used to be far more often until I went to the convent but there it was only monthly. Most of our clothes were monthly too, you oon get used to it and as long as you have clean underwear and wash yourself regularly it doesn't smell.0

Because of all the time saving electronic gadgets we have these days, plus the fact that more women who work are also married and have children, we (women that is) still seem to be obsessed by the housework routine. Do men worry about it just as much as us women? I know my OH wouldn't even know HOW to change the bed, let alone WHEN!!!!
My mum used to do top sheet became bottom sheet, and she washed them every week, so we had at least 1/2 a set of clean sheets. No duvets then, just blankets and eiderdowns. She had a twin tub and no dryer so sometimes in winter it got left till we had a decent day to try to dry them outside.
How on earth did the Victorians and further back get on? They didn't even have running water most of them - now that's scary! It would have been very hard work and even if they were SAHM's their families were much larger (my mum was one of 10 - although much later than the Victorians I must say!)"It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0
