Actually that's not what I'd say at all, it would be far shorter :rotfl:
As MrsAtobe says we have two sheets, one on the mattress, one between us and the duvet, the top one is washed each week, bottom one moves to top, fresh one onto the mattress.
That's strange cos my mum used to do it the other way round. Bottom one gets changed weekly, top goes to bottom and new one on top. Fitted sheets rather put paid to that tho!:pI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Once a week or less if we need to.
As we have an existing thread on the same topic I've added your thread to it.

Weekly here but sometimes I forget and it may go a day or too longer!Slightly bitter0

Usually every fortnight but if its good drying weather it can sooner. I think your MIL lives in a very tiny world tbh, she should expand her horizons and not worry so much about how other people live their lives. We all do things differently, and if we are happy how we live then no one else gets the vote.0

Weekly for me too, but I have to admit that if I could manage it I would love clean sheets every day - it's such a lovely feeling to get into a fresh bed.0

How we all sort it is not really going to help if she thinks she is right.
However you say she was a SAHM but are you? If you are not you can simply explain that you do not have the time or energy to change things every 2-3 days.
Additionally, you could add that as people bathe so much more these days compared to when she was a young wife, and as washing machines and powders are so much more efficient, then the hygiene issue is not correct/appropriate. Tell your husband this first.
When the dust has settled, the three of you need to come to some arrangement about not undermining each other's efforts in the home.
Finally, if she persists, ask her if she would have wanted her own mother in law offering such advice in her own house ..........
