Why, oh why, oh why? Bath towels are used on a CLEAN body. I just cannot understand anyone feeling that something used to dry a clean body has to be washed.

You still have body oils and skin particles being wiped into the towel though. And they are used to wipe bottoms, which are full of germs. I used to wash towels on a quick wash, but I noticed the other day that they looked a bit dirty still, so I've started to wash them on a hotter wash (50c).
Bedding I change every Friday morning. Clothes are washed after they have been worn once. It's not like we have to go down to a river and beat them on rocks - the vast majority of us these days have automatic washing machines. I used to live in Africa where people DO have to wash clothes in the river, and they are much cleaner than a lot of people in Britain - sometimes the stink off people here is nauseating.
I like the children to go to school with clean uniform every day - they are my public representatives so I don't want people to think we are a dirty family. When I was growing up my mum had to wash our clothes in the bath, but we still had a clean shirt every day (6 of us).0 -

When my kids were little i wouldve agreed 100% with what you are saying, BUT now i have 2 teenage girls there is no way i have time to wash and dry 8 (yes, you read that right, 8) bath towels a day PLUS everything else, plus work full-time. Just not do-able in this house.
So, bedding is all done every week. Pyjamas, socks, pants, bras, working clothes and tops are every day. Jeans can be worn twice. And towels have to be hung up, aired, and used a minimum of 3  times each!!!!
I have a life beyond bath towels now :rotfl:0 -
Bedsheets are every 10-14days. Clothes I used to wash things after one wear but trying to reduce the amount of washing loads I do, so now after 2-3 wears depending on what it is. Obviously not underwear or socks!:p
As a rule I don't iron anything, life is just too short. Only things that *really* need it!0 -
I try to do my bedding weekly. Also turn and hoover down the mattress at the same time.
I do iron my sheets but I can't say I do i exceptionally well - normally get bored after I;ve done half :rotfl:0 -

How do you get your towels so grubby?
Perhaps it's because you use them to "wipe your bottoms"? Or did you mean drying yourself?
I've had many of my towels for years (there are 5 of us) and just wash them on a normal 40 degree wash (perhaps weekly) and they are as bright and fluffy as always.
Do your family have baths or showers? Perhaps you need to find out exactly what they are actually doing with the towels as it sounds a little worrying at how filthy they're getting. I'd be having words with everyone!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
top sheet to bottom. wash bottom sheet and pillow cases weekly. duvet cover infrequently. it doesnt get dirty and the sheet protects it."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

I used to wash all the bedding three times a week. In the summer I've even been known to wake DH up,about 5.15 a.m. ask him to get out of bed given it a quick change pop it into the washer then I could peg it out before I went to work.
Thankfully I'm now over that obsession but it's still every tuesday for me.0 -
