Just been reading on the BBC Dig In website. Apparently slugs and snails like oats and bran. When they eat it, it swells up inside them and they pop! Or you can buy nematode worm eggs (Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita), water them into the soil, and the worms will gobble up baby slugs.

There's always the beer trap of course as they like a bit of a sup apparently :rotfl:

kazwookie any tips on getting your cat to lose so much weight, and how long has it took you? Ours is about 4kilos overweight too, and we try and try to make him lose some but he is on special kidney food and we find it impossible. He is also disabled and can't use one of his back legs properly which definitely doesn't help him.

cat1 is 3 leged and think he can be lazy, (use to hide all day behind the sofa) he put on his weight when I got him form the RSPCA, they said 150g of James Wellbelloved, which was too much, the wrong sort as it seems it is full of fats, etc and as he didn't at the time want to walk the weight went on.

Vets changed him to Royal cainn obesity management, works out at 49p per day. He now has 60g per day, a large cat flap so he can go in and out, plus I spent at least 18months, playing with him each evening for about an hour to get him to move, and building up his confidence.........so far so good but it has taken time. He now hides under the coffee table, rather than the sofa which is good.

Well done for making another card for toots, and glad to hear she is doing ok.

Morning all - towels on line, sheets off beds so a good start.

Thrifty - most of us thank to keep track of where we are - since the upgrade I find first unread takes me to the LAST POST often - especially on Mel's thread

    Morning all

soappie - we're going back to west wales - we use our friend's house there so it's cheap and we love it so much! We did think about going somewhere else but decided the money is better in our deposit fund. we hope to move out there one day if we can get work so the more time we spend the better!

would a provisional driving license work for DS - not sure how quickly you can get them?

Glad to hear about the forum, hope they are still going strong!

DH is still asleep and the things I need to do before we go are in the bedroom - need to finish the case with the things that were drying over night, pack a couple of books for me to read and strip and remake the bed so it's nice for when we get back!

    Morning everyone

    Very bleary eyed this morning.

I normally do my bedding on a Saturday but I think I'll do it today as we've potentially got rain over the weekend.

I definitely think we should do a visualisation for Toots and Lady-L. I think we did it at 9pm on a Sunday last time. May I suggest we do it at that time again? Or would an earlier time suit more people?

We did it on Monday (cos I missed Ashes to Ashes) - that seemed to suit most people though a Sunday's doable for me...

ETA - have a terrific holiday and don't be tempted to do as much walking as you did last time - you seemed to come home needing a holiday! xx

It's the 'S' forum rather than the 'B' forum and there was a goodish turn out last night. It suffered a bit over the last year or so because the previous chairman wasn't up to the job really and kept changing dates and times without letting anyone know! But that's resolved now so hopefully it will now get stronger.

Am now going to jump into the bath then stick the bedding in the wash then phone the tax office.
