Off to iron - BB is about to start! The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Michelle - Just a suggestion but do ask them if they have reported it to the HSE as a 'near miss incident' and watch them change colour. Given that there was potential for breakage of bones/loss of life the incident is theoretically reportable. Ask for a copy of the accident investigation that has been carried out.
Slugs - I find the chickens are very effective, but do more damage to the crops than the slugs did in the first place.
I have still done nothing more from my list other than a WM load, filling the DW and S&S the kitchen. Not going to get better fast as I am working tomorrow and have lots of self employed stuff on.

Evening ladies! (and gents wherever you are hiding)
Hope you are all well
Usual manic Thursday (term time) evening now over, phew! 1.5 hours of manic cubs/swimming/back to cubs I dread it every week..... Anyway all done for another week now, was at a meeting day time with some important people which went very well. Another meeting all day tomorrow. Not managing to fit as much study in as I would like, will need to catch up on evenings.
Hope you are all ok, just going to fill WM, DW etc then have a little read throughOne day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
:hello:Just flitting through to say hi!! I'll have a hug, hex, never turn one down.:D Have one back!!
michelle - hugs to you especially, and DS.
Busy but enjoyable day at work today, and I'll be back flying tomorrow. DS1 has his last A2 exam in the morning, and I shall go to the allotment, then fly after coffee.
On the whole, birds won't eat dead slugs - they're all dried up and horrible. Most of the recorded incidents of poisoning have been with agricultural pellets which don't have a repellent. The make I use, usually only in the greenhouse or under fleece where the birds can't get at them, is the one which uses ferric something. DO NOT use too many pellets - reasonable control can be achieved with about one pellet every foot.
valli - sounds like the lettuces fell victim to one of the cutworm type things, especially as you say it's your first veg plot. They are always more common on new ground, and will reduce once the ground is regularly cultivated (one very good argument against the no-dig plot). I don't think any control is now available to gardeners.
lil_me - just sent you pm.It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
Well done Rach for getting yourexpenses sorted. Where are you going on holiday? If I don't catch you before you go have a wonderful time.
Huston - you're doing extraordinarily well - well done you!
I don't know how it happened, but the meeting I went to (local area forum), only intending to stay an hour, I've ended up being voted in as secretary. It all happened in the blink of an eye before I realised what was going on . Someone said we need a secretary - could you do it. I said I could. Next thing I know, someone's proposed, three people, out of the blue have seconded and the general vote was unanimous.
Blimey. Maybe, just maybe, people are beginning to respect me and see me as me rather than listening to and kowtowing to the nasty ones spreading rumours and stuff because I stop them doing what they want to do.
So ended up staying till the end scribbling notes.
DS and DiL have hit a snag with their mortgage. Seems DS does not have enough id because his passport's run out and he doesn't have a driving licence. Looking at the rules, it's ridiculous the type of id that's required. So he's got to scrabble around applying for a passport and phoning the tax office to request a statement of tax. All of which will take time.
Ahhh me.
And I still haven't had dinner. But it's almost ready..I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

We are now doing emergency passport form filling in. I'm filling it in for him, DiL has taken him to Asda to have photos taken...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Evening all
I have just spoken to tootsshe is in good spirits and has control of the TV remote, ahhhhhhh the power :rotfl: She is still making progress, they are going to do an assessment on Monday and provided they are pleased with the result from that she might be out on Tuesday wooohoooo. So I am proposing a visualisation on Sunday night (either before the new thread starts or on the new thread?) let's see how many we can get on board with this, thinking 9pm ish.
She asked after you all, wanted to know who was slackingobviously I didn't tell her about my lack of flying, that's cause she knows I am one of the world's biggest slackers, in the flying dept you understand! Snitched about those wanting extra stars
she said you can all stand by
As ever she was more concerned about us than she is about herself, sending special hugs to LL in particularShe was thrilled to see SSL and jjef yesterday and thanks you both for the goodies you took in. She is missing everyone on here and being part of the thread but says you can run but you can't hide, is hoping to read up on all our shinanigans when she gets home.
Miss A posted another card to her which she has received and she now has a sparkly bed partially covered in glitter :rotfl:Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -

Another hideous day at work... I really didn't want to get up this morning, but I did, and walked to the shop and back to get yogurt so I could have some breakfast. Somehow made it through work, then went to the gym, had half an hour on the treadmill (mostly walking, it was an old one which was slippery so I didn't feel happy running), went to a yoga class, then went back to the gym for another 15 minutes or so and managed to run for 6 minutes (this is a lot for me - normally I run for a couple of minutes, walk for 10, run for another 2 etc!). Came home, went to find food, realised the freezer was off  but although it had started defrosting (it's been off for AT LEAST 24 hours, if not longer, as I haven't been near the utility room for a while), the food was all frozen and the temp was still below -5, so I've put it on extra-cold and hopefully it will be OK.
I've made and eaten supper while catching up on here, and just need to get myself ready for my gym session tomorrow morning. I have meetings with management consultants in the morning, then my briefing from my manager on the reorganisation, followed by a session briefing my teamI'm really not looking forward to it. I do have a call to the US to make in the afternoon - it's a reference call from a supplier, so hopefully it will go well as if the supplier gets the contract they'll need to take on more people and have promised to consider one of my team, and there's also the possibility that the company I'm speaking to might be interested in either me or one of the team. I've been making calls all day trying to find them all other jobs.
Michelle - ask for details of the H&S inspection regime and reports, and details of who their H&S officer is.
RoseP - well done on the walk. Try to add a few more steps each day, and it'll get easier. If you can put together a spreadsheet, you can record them all, work out averages etc. You don't need to do much more to start losing weight (obviously you need to make sure you eat sensibly). Apparently there was a very good programme on last week about weight loss, but the person who told me can't remember what it was called, so i haven't managed to locate it!
Emily - great to see you back. Glad things are going well
jjef & ssl - thanks for visiting toots and reporting back for us
miss A - thanks for sending the card to toots. It sounds like it's really cheered toots up!
AnW's mum - thanks for the new from toots!
Triker - hope you recover soon
rach - have a lovely holiday. I'm so pleased your sister is improving
tooch - good luck with the exam!0
