The corpses of slugs and snails litter the veggie patch. The lettuce leaves were intact so wondered if the roots had been got at - the plants wilted despite being watered. This is my first proper veg patch year but I have strawberries which DD, a strawberry addict, has been instructed not to eat, in my border where I also grow mint (in a little 'pen') rhubarb and blackcurrants - I have 'useful' plants in the back and save the flowers for the front.

Ah.. but slug pellets kill the birds that eat the affected slugs and snails.. and the hedgehogs.. They die a horrifically painful death.

And.... they make the cats ill when they eat the affected dying birdies.
