Well, how very confusing life is: feedback needed on this one. I was taping Buffy The Vampire Slayer :o Season 7, the last one and a great one, has just started airing on FX, and I was going to use Amazon vouchers to buy it, as a treat after giving up satellite  And since I thought I was going to have to pay for the next month, well, I thought I'd tape it and at least get my money's worth that way.

But half way through an episode, it cut out. So did SkyOne and all sorts of other channels I had. Sky News and Bloomberg News are still there, confusingly - does anybody have any idea what they've done? Are Sky and Bloomberg freeview channels now? I didn't think they were, I must say.

But I'm left wondering whats going on. They can't have got my letter, cos I only posted it at 9pm last night. Has the bloke I spoke to decided that I'm more trouble than its worth, and they're just going to write off the last month that they think they're entitled to?

I'm still going to write again - either they think I have to pay for something I'm not getting, or they've accepted that I shouldn't pay and they put me through all that trauma needlessly. Plus in my upset last night, I only sent 2 of the 3 pages I've written, and they're going to get that third page.

I'm off to London now, catch up over the weekend. Thanks again to all who supported me in this, from Wol to Shaun :A:A:A:A

Hi KC - sounds like they have already terminated your service.. I'm sure you said earlier that you had already cancelled the DD for the month before you rang them yesterday? That's good because the money is stil in your account and not theirs :T

That being the case, and the fact they can't take another DD payment, they are electing to send you a paper invoice? Well when you receive it just write back saying your service was terminated on such and such a date and therefore as you have not been in receipt of the service you should not have been charged so please will they raise a credit note to cancel the invoice. Alternatively as you say, write to them this weekend and state the current position.

Hopefully they now won;t bother to send you an invoice......but just to let you know...when I was flooded and out of my house for a year....Sky's "special deal" for flood victims was to charge the minimum package per month for no service until their homes were re-instated......I had some right old barnies with them ....and was featured in Which magazine last year about the premium rate call charges..(Sky gave me a credit following the article )......happy to ring them on your behalf....by the way are you using the cheap phone number for them from the saynoto0870 website?

Just for info to everyone: I was told recently that DD's leave your account only after they have been "called for" which apparently happens a few days previous to when the money actually shows as leaving your account ....sounds to me like Sky could be utilising the called for date instead of the actual payment date to squeeze an extra month's subscription.....hmmmm...feel another Which article coming on ;)

Watch out Sky....if you give our friend KC anymore hassle ...well we've got your number and the piggies are practicing their battle skills...........

Wow, Wol! Thats great phrasing for a letter, thank you! I feel *very* happy about that. I hadn't thought of using the saynoto0870 website, I was ringing an 0845 number - which I did mention to the first guy I spoke to, what with all the time I was on hold and the lack of help I was getting. Fancy you having already gone to town on them! I love it. And I think you're right about the "called for" date - I knew I had to cancel the DD quite a few days before it actually went out, so I must have covered the called for date as well, which is a relief. They don't have a leg to stand on now, do they, now that they've stopped the service - they can hardly ask me for a month's notice from Thursday 26 June when they stopped the service on Friday 27th June.

Thanks! I'm off up to London again to see my oldest friend - I was supposed to stay with her last night, but I couldn't cope with being away from the house, so I'm just touching base now and then zooming off - will catch up this evening so I can do nothing!

Shaun - love the image of your little baby chomping on your leg! Hope you managed to find him something else from that store of lovely home made food you've got stashed!

Have a good one, one and all.

    PS - the piggies!!!! :):):)

Right, bit of updating needed here.

    - mystery shopping - I'm nabbing all the ones I can, and told RE I could do another one if they gave me more money for it, cos its too far on its own without more money - they don't want me yet :rotfl:but might come back to me. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, I thought!

    - France, I have to check if my accountant has received the cheque I sent, because they finally sent me a reminder, and pay the service charge. :(

    - bathroom - I can do some work in there actually, at least I can clean the floor. I don't dare do anything outside today - in the spirit of having a NSD :money: I walked to the dentist and back (routine stuff) and tho I had SPF30 on, thats plenty for today, even tho the garden is desperate for a tidy up. :o

Update: have cleaned most of the bathroom floor - it was disgusting :rotfl: had to stop, I'm still too hot, and I'm working soon. Plus I got a letter from Sky: "I'm sorry to hear that you've decided to cancel your Sky TV subscription. Thank you for letting us know. Your Sky TV viewing will stop on 25/06/2009. .... if there's anything we can do to change your mind, ... all you need to do is call.

:eek::eek: If Sky were the only satellite provider when I got my financial act together again, I *still* wouldn't use them - I'd hack satellites, like an acquaintance of mine does who lives in Germany, and I'd buy box sets. No way will I *ever* go back to them. But I'm really, really glad the whole thing has finished so quickly, I was expecting to have to wait weeks to be sure they weren't going to hassle me. :j:j:j

"We want you to continue enjoying Sky's great entertainment package; to do so you must keep up monthly payments. Your bank tells us you've cancelled your Direct Debit instructions; however this doesn't cancel your Sky subscription.

We'll need to send you an invoice for your ongoing monthly subscription payments. This will include an administrative charge of £3.91 [their bold type] that will be added to your bill for each month you pay by invoice rather than by Direct Debit. You can avoid this charge by setting up a new Direct Debit instruction which means you won't receive invoices and incur the monthly administrative charge."

I'm drafting a reply right now - it'll probably be OTT, thats why its a draft :(

Just realised the letter I've received is dated 24th June - i.e. before my service was stopped, and before my horrible conversation last Thursday night. This is what I've written so far:

Please stop threatening me. I have previously contacted Sky by telephone, as well as stopping my Direct Debit. I spoke on the phone with Sky on Thursday 25th, and when my service was terminated, on Friday 26th, checked with some people who are helping me, and we presumed that Sky had seen reason. Since, in any case, I have not been in receipt of the service, I should not have been charged, and if you have already raised an invoice based on your letter of 24th June, I would be grateful if you would now raise a credit note to cancel that invoice.

I have cancelled Sky, after being a customer for over ten years, because my business is failing, and I am in debt for a total of approximately £90,000. I have a shortfall which is adding to this debt of approximately £150 per week, no matter what efforts I make to increase my income. Accordingly, I have to reduce my outgoings, and I reluctantly decided to leave Sky.

I did not expect the unpleasantness that has ensued - when my service was interrupted last year in the changeover from credit card payments to direct debits, the necessary corrections were instantaneous and everyone was very pleasant. In this last week, I feel like I've been treated like I was a criminal.

I wrote to Sky by hand on Thursday night, I was absolutely devastated at how I was spoken to, and in my distress I did not attach all three pages of the letter I had written. I now attach all three pages so the letter can be read in full.
