I really hate being poor. I hated being poor and living in a poor area, and I hate it nowadays, when I'm poor and living in a nice area.
Nothing to do with it really. I had a really, really bad phone call with Sky - they're not accepting cancellation without a 30 day notice period, although they stopped it instantaneously last year after a mixup when they moved from credit card invoicing to direct debits; and not only are they going to try to charge me the usual monthly payment, they're also going to try to take another couple of quid - I'm *sure* they have the debit date wrong - they're saying its the 23rd, but its going out tomorrow. I just got a bit overwhelmed at that. They didn't like me yelling "I can't pay that" and they didn't like me crying, when I could listen again, they'd hung up. I've already posted a letter to the complaints department - how interesting that there's no address on their website to write to (easily found, anyway), which I thought was illegal for a registered company.
I'll get straight from the mess I'm in, one fine day. But I'll never forget how shabbily they've treated me, after paying them money for old rope for over ten years. Never.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

If you think Sky have screwed up a direct debit, phone your bank up and recall it. It's all part of the Direct Debit guarantee. And there's nothing Sky can do about it.

phone sky up.go to the cancellation dept ,ask for a supervisor,,
explain how you had to deal with a discurtious member of staff yesterday while trying to sort out a problem... and wont to cancel the service,,
he she will waffle on about credits ands free days just ignore and say sorry no
fed up with it,,,i want to cancel,,,
remember you pay in advance for sky,,but you have to catch them 2 weeks before your bill is ready..so either
next month is already paid for so cut off date in 4wks
its due soon so just run out the credit in a few days and watch your account to make sure they dont steel your cash next month..

Hi folks. Thank you for your support, all of you. I think the reason its so upset me is that I always intended to cancel Sky from this month - they stopped the service quick enough last year or whenever, with the changeover from cc to DD, as I say. The DD was due out today, and it hasn't gone - I thought they'd just stop my service, it was only a courtesy call last night, I didn't dream I'd get the response I did.If you think Sky have screwed up a direct debit, phone your bank up and recall it. It's all part of the Direct Debit guarantee. And there's nothing Sky can do about it.:grouphug:
Thanks Z. They haven't screwed it up, but they say that because I cancelled the DD, they're going to send me an invoice, for about £3 more than my normal monthly payment "because thats the way the invoice date works" - thats what sent me over the top in the end, I couldn't hack that.

Thanks! I try so hard to keep all the juggling going, and when something knocks me really badly like this, it just feels like I've been beaten up, tbh. But I managed to get some proper sleep last night, and I'm going to write another letter to them today - I find, in my trauma yesterday, I only sent 2 of the 3 pages. Good excuse.
The French - well, I did A level, many many moons ago, and I went au pairing one autumn, after my degree - it was a horrible experience, very isolated, but I stayed just long enough to start to dream in French, so although I too learn on a need to know basis - I really like that, btw :rotfl::T I have a really good basis.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Unfortunately, thats exactly the phone call I made last night

No "free day" waffling was received
Its the cut off date in 4 weeks thing thats really upset me in the moment, Shaun - I just got really overwhelmed by how horrible it is to be in debt like this, and whats more to not be making enough money to cover my outgoings. I hate it. Sky were insensitive and jobsworth, but its my own situation thats really, really upset me, I have to say. 2023: the year I get to buy a car0
