Short Term Challenge

This isn't strictly a thread strictly about moneysaving .... its about improving my life in the very short term, this next week actually - not a diary in the usual sense, but a place for me to stay focussed on some short term goals. Without the focus of a single place for all this lot, I *know* I'll distract myself and while it might be something positive in the long term, it won't necessarily be right for this week.
So, these are the things I want to do: first off is my paid work, thats the biggest part of debtbusting I can do! :money::money::money:
Then there's the rest:
- 3 mystery shops; I'm not worried about doing these, I do them regularly, they're already printed out, just got to do them and input them.
- two of them entail a trip out on Tuesday - and I want to go see Star Trek then. That might look odd in a dfw list like this, but one of the reasons I don't feel that great is that I let my life get really unbalanced. And after all, I'm one of the biggest SF fans on this forum (that I know of, anyway
) and I haven't seen it yet, and I want to!
- sort out my bathroom - everything from cleaning the tiles to putting strips of sealant round the bath rim to filling holes in the skirting board to cleaning the window (and the floor
) and using a little tub of ready made plaster around it. The bathroom is absolutely tiny, so it isn't quite as daunting as it sounds.
- plant the plants I've got sitting on the patio. Half a dozen of the marigolds have died already. I've spent the money, I need to plant the things, even if its only to pot them on.:o
- investigate the French mortgage - send some money over, first off, get it online as that facility has just been offered, check that I've paid the accountant, I've a horrible feeling that I haven't, investigate whether it would be better to use some money to pay off some of the French mortgage, so that it becomes more self supporting.
Five things... and bearing in mind one of them is watching a film, I *should* be able to do this next week. I wrote "most of it", but I want to do all of it. Plus scratchcards and checking online banking, of course!
:D:D

Love the idea of a one week diary, writing out what you've got planned increases your accountability and therefore achieving it...
Will watch avidly through the week when im not at work (so about 8 hours in total LOL), and look forward to hearing how you get on...
Really tempted by ST myself....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
good luck to you too Karma.0

Thanks, Purple! I just got slightly waylaid, tbh - my neighbours were out in their backyard having their evening meal, and our gardens are so steep, that if I'd done anything in mine, we'd have been visible to one another. Still, I gave the plants I need to pot on a watering, and I've heard him pottering about now, so I'll repot some, I think. Had some potting compost delivered on Friday....
Thanks CAFCGirl! This week in particular I really need it, because of the plants and because of France. Off to muck about with the plants now .....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
A one week challenge sounds an excellent way of doing it - not too overwhelming, never far from the end, yet not enough time to put things off too much!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Karmakat, what a great idea, a weekly diary! I have put so many posts on my other diary, sometimes you can't see the woods for the trees! I may just do weekly inputs on that of the actual DFW money stuff and then do a weekly diary myself! I have become a bit addicted lately.unsecured Debts at [strike]August 2007 £79,984[/strike] September £79,579 [STRIKE]Snowballing date July 2013[/STRIKE].

Thanks folks! MissKJ:hello:, I was just starting to read your diary, I love the thoughtfulness of it - thanks for coming on here!
Hi Hypno!:hello: Hi EssexHebridean:hello:
I have a victory for the system to report, even tho I don't think this would work every week. I've done all the potting! I've been meaning to get those plants sorted for a couple of weeks now, and not done it - there isn't really the space to put them in at the mo, the weeding is a bit too patchy (translation = my garden is a complete pigsty). So I potted on four thyme plants, a parsley, a mint, two oregano, one redcurrant and three scabious. Importantly, tho, I have to move them tomorrow to the space where my veg patch will be - they're much less likely to get eaten by snails there, the area I've currently got them attracts snails like nobody's business. Tomorrow will be soon enough tho. I'm really pleased at this! I wouldn't have done it without making this list, its a real victory! :j:j:j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Oh there's a cunning thought, KC's weekly [STRIKE]chat[/STRIKE]focus thread:D:TBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
