I'm still *so* tired after the weekend. Mind you, I've done a fair old bit; of the stuff that this challenge is concerned with this is what I've done:
    - two mystery shops done and inputted.
    - some paid work done
    - emailed my French accountant to confirm I was sending the payment to them today, and did actually post it off...

I did loads! But none of it relating to these challenges. And this is what this little thread is pointing up, that focus on the plans I make is somewhat ... lacking.

You're doing well on the surveys, shaun? I've hardly done any recently, apart from a couple of prize draws for yougov. Have to get down to it.

    g'night from the Pegasus Galaxy.

Shaun, I love that, makes me laugh out loud - hope you enjoyed your anomaly! I'm not doing too much today, still recovering slowly. Today I have:
    - done the scratchcards.
    - put the washing machine on.
    - put the dry dishes away.
    - written a *looong* email.

I'm off to see a friend, v unusually for me, I'll be out of the house most of the day, but some time today, I also want to:
    - check online banking - I'm *used* to it now!
    - tidy up those damn branches I've left s*dding about the place
    - repot at least a few of my aloe vera plants, see if I can rescue them.
    - use the train journey to think about how to help the family with a particular issue - needs a lot of concentrated staring off into space and then frantic scribbling, I think :o Anyone with adult offspring, who've needed help to get to grips with adult life, or anyone who's been in that situation, please feel free to share with me, by pm if you'd like.:confused::confused:

Okay, off for a little rootle around the threads, then back to work.

Its really interesting doing this short term challenge (for me, anyway :D).

    - 3 mystery shops. done various/lots. 2 more scheduled for today.
    - I want to go see Star Trek on Tuesday No, still haven't done it.
    - sort out my bathroom - everything! Started. And have done nothing more for a week now.
    - plant the plants I've got sitting on the patio. Done. This goal wasn't big enough - I've done other things in the garden, tho still not enough.
    - work on the French mortgage: Started. But thats all. Still haven't put the loan online, and I don't know if I can overpay, as Panda suggested on her thread when I temporarily hijacked it.

So ... lessons .... erm, let me think:
    - more balance! Specifically, I'm doing too much of the short term daily stuff, and not inserting the tasks, still small, that lead more directly to longer term goals - like having a nice bathroom, for instance. Plus once again I notice I'm not giving myself enough social time.

    - excuse - but I'm working hard at making money! No I'm not, not except for mystery shopping! I've not added anything to my total for the June £10 a day challenge, and its now the 12th!

    - remedy - I need to set aside say an hour every other day - thats only 3 hours a week, after all - to address the long term work, especially the work in the house. I've done some, but I really need to do more. Playing less freecell would help!

Glad you are having a weekend away that will definitely help redress the balance sorry cannot help with your adult problems my mom lives with us and is definitely the child in the relationship now and as you know my daughter is only just moving out and is only 18 she has just gone out on an errand and she gave me a kiss normally she wouldn't bother :D the packing is nearly complete :rotfl:

BUT YOU MUST GO AND SEE THAT FILM

My whole week has been, as Wol put it, "a week off the shoulds", and its been very recharging, so to speak!

Don't worry about the 'adult problems', DT, tbh knowing that somebody read that and thought about it is good.

Anyway, I had a *big* compliment yesterday. My mum and I were talking on the phone about that family dynamic, and I told her my approach, which I knew she would disapprove of, and I said so as I was telling her. And indeed, at first there was this ominous silence .... and then she said, bless her, but you're so much better at this sort of thing than I am. You know, thats a pretty amazing acknowledgement to be able to make at the age of 83... :o:kisses3:.

But thank you so much for reminding me about the film! I *do* have to - its still on locally: I can cope with going out once on a weekday next week, so I think I'll postpone joining Cafe Scientifique (a worldwide set of discussion meetings about science) since its monthly and I can't go to another one till October - and go to see Star Trek on Tuesday. Okay, thats a commitment:

    Star Trek on Tuesday.

DT, I hope you're okay with DD leaving, lots of hugs to you - she sounds like she's already finding out how much you've done for her.

I shall be checking to make sure you do go - so don't think you will get away with it:D:D

I am on a guilt trip about my DD because I am not upset

Thanks DT! Thats a good point about resolving to go and then not going .... thats what I do. If I've got someone on my case, tho, it'll be easier.

Guilt for not feeling upset .... You're fitting so much in, in terms of people and activities.... you're seeing *more* of her right now.... she's suddenly connecting to you again..... there's the adrenalin produced by any big change ..... and parents, y'know, they're *supposed* to make themselves obsolete, thats their job, you're supposed to produce little humans who can go off into the world, there must be some deep genetic satisfaction in that, even if we don't *feel* it. You've done great!
