  • Thanks!!! I'll give the Stardrops a go first and if that fails I'll get OH to bring some WD-40 home from work.

I've tried SD diluted (yes the instructions are on the back but you have to work out a smaller amount - unless you want litres of the stuff) and undiluted. Diluted I used mostly the foam as someone suggested.
Neither has removed the stain/dye but faded it a bit I think.

WD40 stinks like hell so maybe you can use SD after you've tried it?

good luck from one stainee to another :) or is it :( the way mine is (not) going
  • Just done it and wating for it to try so will let you know the results soon...

Dilute stardrops should work, but if not try white spirit. My DH once used that to get a woodstain off a customer's cream carpet, after he accidentally spilt a whole bottle on it.
  • It worked! Might give it another quick go over tomorrow but it got 95% out - thing is I hate the feeling of a sponge rubbing on carpet (makes my toes curl) so didn't rub particularly vigorously!

    Hoorah! Stardrops strikes again!

Unfortunately I put some neat stardrops on a particularly dirty patch of carpet, scrubbed it up fine and then vac all over. look good until it dried....where i had put neat stardrops it has now left dark stains on the carpet!

I love Stardrops for almost all jobs around the home, but at the weekend while my OH was cleaning some galss with it he knocked over the bowl the stardrops solution was in (diluted) and it went all over our beige carpet. I thought nothing of it as I have read it can be used as a carpet cleaner, but after a couple of days it dried completely yet the carpet is stained a little bit yellow! Any suggestions of what I should do to get it back to normal?
    thanks, sarah
