So I guess do a spot test on the back of the sofa first to see how it comes up before actually tackling the visible bits.

Using a spray bottle to the same ratio (approx. 1 part stardrops:10 parts water) may help to avoid the over-wetting!

Hope this helps and let me know how you get on as I shall soon be challenged by some cream/beige sofas of my own!!

Ok, just sprayed, wiped and vacuumed my sofa set. I'm not sure the effects are actually visible, though regular cleaning may prevent it from getting grubbier too quickly. The fabric feels cleaner to sit on, and it smells quite nice too. I guess the stardrops and vacuuming would have removed sweat and skin cells!? :rotfl:

I'm going to work on a mud spot on my carpet now that a window workman left with his boot! Ordinary carpet spot removers haven't worked.

Thanks for that hitchhiker... I'll be getting my sofa from new so regular cleaning may help stop it getting grubby.

I'll deal with the big stain when he sits on the sofa :rotfl:
  • be warned the tesco value cloths don't seem to be as longlasting as some of the others. Mine only lasted 12 months before losing their oopmh

Another convert, I found it in Savers yesterday for 68p and was really annoyed to find it cheaper in semichem (58p). Also got the microfibre cloths (3 for 89p) - I am so impressed with how shiny my sink and over door are..... I'm moving to stepford!

I have a selection and did wash them with towels yesterday. I don't use conditioner with towels BUT I did wash them on the Economy heat setting which I think is 90 deg. as The one I checked said to do it at this Temp. When I drying them I checked one of the finer cloths and it said 50 deg! I think they have probably shrunk a little but as I have not used them yet I am not sue if I have reduced their effectiveness.[/QUOTE]

Exlibris, can you let me know if your cloths lose their effectiveness? I can't see any other way I can sensibly (money saving and eco-friendly) wash them... I don't really want to put 9 cloths in the machine on their own.

    Thanks

    Hi dellybelly,

I wash mine by hand separately from the main wash, but there's a thread here that might help you:

89p for 3 cloths for a year is good value I'd say for just under 30p each

Other cloths I've used before I started on microfibre ones dont last nowhere near that long
    Thanx
