Have myself some Stardrops from Asda, am halfway through cleaning bathroom, and I'm impressed, reading all these posts though, I am sad to say I don't own any microfibre cloths (hangs head in shame). Can someone please explain what they are , how they're different and how to use themWith Love From The Mistress xx

They kind of look a bit like a terry face cloth, but much finer in texture. Some are finer than others, but tend to be a bit more expensive I think. I have one expensive one, and loads of cheaper ones, and they all do the same job - mind you I have never managed to get them any cheaper than about £1 each, others on here have managed to get 2 or 3 for that price. Asda sell them in their cleaning section.
They clean all sorts of surfaces without scratching much better than other kinds of cloths, its something to do with the way that the fibres are made up - a technology thing that I am clueless about! No doubt someone will be able to give you a more scientific and technical description! They are also very absorbent - you get microfibre towels, hair wraps.
You can use them just with water to clean windows and mirrors, or so the blurb goes.
Anyway, they are brilliant for cleaning everything - use them in bathroom, kitchen, for dusting, for cleaning windows. Use them with stardrops, vinegar or whatever you prefer. For windows keep a dry one for polishing off, you will be amazed - first time ever I have had streak free windows, mirrors and glass in units. (Although think I am a bit of a fool here, used to get hubby to do the windows, as he was much better than me! )
One tip - don't wash them with towels - apparently this is bad for them, does something to the cleaning properties - also, don't use fabric conditioner on them in the wash.0 -
I finally tracked down a micofibre cloth in Morrisons for 99p. It feels weird.
Have to say, it is effective though. I normally have to use Hob Brite on my glass topped cooker as nothing else will take the spills and burnt on food off - even then I usually have to scrub at it a bit......however Stardrops and the microfibe cloth cleaned it up so easily with only a wipe that I was lost for words. (Not easy for me)

I have a selection and did wash them with towels yesterday. I don't use conditioner with towels BUT I did wash them on the Economy heat setting which I think is 90 deg. as The one I checked said to do it at this Temp. When I drying them I checked one of the finer cloths and it said 50 deg! I think they have probably shrunk a little but as I have not used them yet I am not sue if I have reduced their effectiveness.0 -
If you have a google around for "microfibre cloth" you can find loads of info (and silly prices) but essentially they are made from a fibre that is 20 times thinner than silk, they work by actualy getting under the muck molecules and lifting them off. Thats why they feel funny and stick to your hands, they are velcroing onto your skin cells. Apparently detergent is not necessary and makes no difference in some hospital cleaning tests, all you need to do is to keep the cloths clean.

I'm impressed that nobody has said "I'm NOT impressed with Stardrops"Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

I've just made a trip to Wilkinsons this morning, especially to buy Stardrops after reading this thread.. but they didn't have it!..
A lady there said it had been on special promotion but that they didn't stock it any more, and that she wasn't impressed with it.
I'll keep looking, I really want to try this for myself!0 -
be warned the tesco value cloths don't seem to be as longlasting as some of the others.
Mine only lasted 12 months before losing their oopmh
