I clean forgot to go for this at the time & DD (14) really would like to trace our family tree. There is this offer on amazon which includes a 6 mth premium subscription.
Is having the FTM equally the same as having 6 mths premium ancestry membership, all info, access etc the same.
If that's the case then it's just a little more expensive to get this 'deal' having missed out on the half price offer.

Am I right or have I got my wires twisted?

If anyone may have Irish roots the 1911 census has just (this weekend) had a few more counties added to it, and the whole thing is FREE (including the original scans of not only the census but also associated pages)

    Antrim
    Cork
    Donegal
    Down
    Dublin
    Galway
    Kerry
    King's Co.
    Wexford

Thank you, 1901 and 1911 census on there, think I've found my paternal grandmother through this but struggling to find a free way online to track my father's birth record.

Just to answer an old query on here but it is still valid now - one of the most money saving ways to get a sub is to buy the previous years family tree program on amazon with a 6 months sub included in the price. I usually do this all the time, remember to cancel your sub just before the 6 months is up. You can then buy another program with a sub included. Its a LOT cheaper than buying just a sub from ancestry and you get the benefit of the family tree program aswell.

I buy the 2011 platinum program as that includes 6 months premium sub which is enough for anyone who has UK ancestry.

The cheaper essential sub is more basic and so I would definitely recommend the platinum program. Usually you can get this on amazon for about £30. Cheap as chips for the program and the 6 months sub. (Ive just looked and you can get this for £25 from avanquest through amazon at present. I havent checked out avanquest direct - you can use topcashback for them - to see if its cheaper from them without using amazon - so you may want to have a go.)

That's an interesting thought, hethmar. I wonder if all the back years' versions still provide the 6 months free subscription? In theory they do - unless of course there's a time limit hidden away within the box.

I've recently finished the 14 day trial at ancestry.co.uk and wanted the annual premium membership priced £107.40, I tried to go through the National Trust link for a 25% discount £80.55 but that takes you to a page to sign up for the 14 day trial before getting the discounted rate, it wouldn't let me continue as I've already done the trial (no way to get direct to signing up at the discounted rate)
so I rang them and explained and they said 'no problem' and let me pay the £80.55 over the phone :)

    hope that helps someone

I have had this programme twice now, from Amazon, "damaged box" edition 2012 about £25, a 2008 edition can be bought for about £8, (Amazon again) with the six month access to search, but I do not know if you get the same privileges as the 2012 edition. I wonder if anyone else knows. Thanks.

I had the 2012 Family Tree Maker on my laptop and had the 6 month free trial to ancestry with this.

This was about 2 years ago. I would like to start using ancestry again. I have a new laptop and haven't put Family Tree Maker on it yet - could I buy the 2012 edition again and have the 6 month sub or would I need to buy a different year's edition?

    TIA
