  • Hi Adrian! :hello:

Sounds like it's working out just fine for you! :D I suppose it's just different strokes for different folks! ;)

I think the "hunger" I get when I'm calorie counting, is probably more psychological than anything else, I'm constantly thinking about food that way, so therefore I crave it more!

I suppose we all just need to figure out which approach works best! I only wish I had your determination - I'd probably be sitting at my target weight by now if I had! But I suppose I'll get there in the end!

I see what you're saying about the fruit, I've quite a sweet tooth though, so find it really helps to stave off the cravings (which again are probably entirely psychological!) to snack on fruit rather than chocolate.

it's so hard sometimes trying to tick all the boxes, getting the right balance of calorie expenditure/intake, along with all the right nutrition, and actually still having a normal life whilst doing it!

Well done on such a big loss though :T - especially in such a short time, it's taken me 3 times as long to lose that! ;)

I do give in to a bit of chocolate every once in a while. 1 square about 30 calories so a couple of squares isn't too bad. A lot of it is in the head and for me summoning the determination to not eat something sweet when I would quite like to have it.
I've heard some people drink mint tea (on this thread?) to deal with their sweet tooth. Near 0 calorie, smart move, sadly I don't like mint tea at all so cannot drink it.
Other little things like timing drinking a cup of tea help to push away hunger a bit longer. 4pm is tea time (semi-skimmed milk, no sugar, 20 calories).

I think the most important thing is to get a method that works for you that you can sustain for as long as it takes. If that means you only loose 0.5lb to 1lb a week instead of 2lb (and so not jetison as much as 7lbs in June) so be it, you'll get to your target weight in the end.

Ha ha - yup - it's me who's the avid mint tea drinker! Not sure why, but if I have a cup after meals, it seems to satisfy my craving for something sweet - equally with the low cal hot choc drinks, only prob with them is the sweetener, when I first started watching my diet, pretty much everything I ate was "sugar-free" which leads to it's own problems, so I've tried to cut down on it!

Have you tried any of the fruit teas? I gave them a go, but the first one I tried was horrible - should maybe try again with different flavours though!

I do an occasional 1 calorie Diet Coke but keep those to a minimum due to those "sugar-free" problems.

I quite like Blackcurrant fruit tea, Sainsbury's own brand plus a couple of others. Unlike many fruit teas just about manages to taste of fruit instead of chipboard :rotfl:
I drink plain Green Tea as well but it's not sweet.
Sparkling water is quite good as it at least has a flavour.
A medium sized Strawberry is only 6 calories, a few of those not too bad for something sweet afer a meal.
One of my little "crutches" is real coffee (as in not instant) with half a teaspoon of sugar and semi-skimmed milk. With breakfast (2 Weetabix + semi-milk) and after lunch, about 30 calories a mug, just enough to satisfy the something chocolaty/sweet urge.
  • Do you know all of the calorie contents just off the top of your head? I'm impressed at your serious dedication! :D I wish even half of it would rub off on me!

Yeah sparkling water's good - I sometimes squeeze half a lemon into it as well, seem to go through phases though, and it's kinda been replaced by the p/mint tea for now!

I did buy some green tea a couple of weeks ago, I'd drink it if I was desparate - but I find it leaves a horrible after taste!

I'll maybe get some black currant over the weekend and give it a go! I wonder if you can buy boxes of mixed flavours? Anyone know? Could be quite an expensive trial, to keep buying full boxes 'til I've found one I like! ;)

February-March this year when I was logging everything for 2 weeks, using the database of foods at caloriecount.about.com I soon started to remember calorie values for things I commonly eat and drink. I looked up Strawberries earlier this month as they came in season and remembered it.

Lo all :waves: just checking in.

Weigh in yesterday and stayed the same. Actually better than I expected as I've had SUCH a bad week - not one day of tracking what I ate (and I HAVE to track to keep on it). Back on the wagon today - have had 27 out of 29 WW points, though not enough fruit and veg. I'm aiming to stick to the points every day this week apart from Sunday - big family bbq thing and I'm not strong willed enough to turn down cheesecake :D I'll try and stick to the salads etc for 'mains' though.

I managed to go swimming again this week, but just the once as TOTM came and while I *can* swim while on, I'd rather not as I have the energy of a slug! Have convinced a friend to come with me on monday though, so I'm gonna TRY and go twice a week... the only problem is due to time constraints getting to work I only get about 20 mins in the pool.

Hope everyone is doing ok x

Where is everyone??! Hope ur all having a good!
    weekend whereever you are!

I have had a naughty couple of days - got a bit complacent and had some (lots) of chocolate and bits and pieces which i shouldn't have. Will not be doing that again... scales say i have put on 3lb... when i was hoping for a 2lb loss this week. Kids have been home sick from school all week so no swimming either, hopefully will be able to go this week.

    Hi folks
bad night last night, nandos as a treat, i was going to be good and get a caeser salad with cheese and dressing on the side, but they didn't have any :eek: So I ended up having a chicken breast fillet burger with one slice of garlic bread and a couple of pinched chips.

Good day today though, yoghurt and half grapefruit for breakfast, banana after swimming, chicken salad with low fat dressing for lunch, having homemade healthy spag bol for dinner.

Ooh and I made some carrot and coriander soup for the freezer for nice healthy lucnhes through the week.

Hope everyone is well, hugs for plzhelpme
