crapwithmoney, how were the fajitas? :D

I'm just back from the BBQ, was good and stuck to fruit, chicken, fish and veg. Although I am now craving sweets. I walked there and back as well (an hour in total) so that's about 2 hours and 15 minutes of walking today.

    Food today:

    2 chocolates
    2 oatcakes
    200g low fat Greek yogurt
    1 apple
    1 orange
    salad
    cake
    BBQ stuff

I can't even remember what else as I had a couple of G&Ts (slimline!) at the BBQ. Ah well. Goodnight all xoxo

miss_nadine, good thing you didn't finish it! It's always good to have an occasional reminder that junk food doesn't taste that good.

I've had 4 Brazil nuts so far this morning and am about to have an orange and some low fat Greek yog. I'm going out for a birthday lunch today and there will be cake (gah), but I will order salad for my main course to make up for it. And I will do more stairs!

  • Morning all!!

How's everyone doing today? You've all been a bit quiet the last few days!

Miss_nadine - well done on not finishing it! It's funny that before you start being conscious of what you're eating, we'd all probably quite happily eat things like a McD's and finish it off even if you weren't enjoying it that much - it's just not worth the extra calories though if it doesn't taste great!

Anyways - I've been a lazy moo again today and am only just out of bed - so haven't eaten anything so far! :T Did have a few more sneaky chocs last night though since I was craving something sweet after my very yummy Fajita's!!

So today, I'm deciding I'm going to take each day as it comes (not that there's really any other way to do it! ;)) And I'll try as hard as I can to make each day a "perfect" eating day!

I'm off to have a shower, and a rummage in OH's cupboard for some healthy(ish) cereal!

    xx

The crucial question if you want to loose fat and weight is how many calories does all that add up too? Exactly what was the BBQ stuff? If it all adds up to too many calories it won't matter how good for you the food is.
There are a lot of sugary things there that don't do much to satisfy appetite - apple, orange, cake. Cake could mean anything from 100 to 500 calories depending on what the cake was. 400 calories is the same as a whole roast dinner.
Excercise will build muscle which is heavier than fat making weight reduction slower, but that's OK it's the fat that needs to go.

I had a massage (treating an RSI problem I have) last night, the place I go has a machine that can somehow measure body fat, muscle and water content to come up with a fairly accurate measure of body fat %.
They have a customer who weight himself, used the machine to measuer body fat, then he spent 2 months doing a lot of excercise and eating a good diet. He weighed himself after 2 months and found he had lost no weight at all. He was fuming, had another go on the machine and it worked out that he had lost 6% of his body fat.... that's a great result!!!!

i am still about and reading everyone's posts but i've been really busy at home lately
Because i'm away for the week i have to make up work i will miss before i go or i will be really behind when i get back, Good news is i will get paid for those hours and get holiday pay on top, which will pay for our weekend away at the end of july :T
Trying to pack for oh and dd is no mean feat when they keep smuggling clothes out of the holiday stash and wearing them, meaning they have to be rewashed, i think i am the only person in the country praying for some bad weather so i don't have to wear anything summery!
food has been the same all week during the day, scrambled egg on toast for breakfast (eggs to use up) slim fast for lunch (powder lurking in the cupboard needed using up) dinners have been either chicken or fish with salad and jacket potato or meat and vegetables. I am trying to run the cupboards and fridge down now though so there will probably be some less healthy evening meals to come so i will adjust portion sizes accordingly. i am hoping to lose another 3lbs by next wednesday so i have reached my half stone target for this month. tonight i am going to go to the gym for an hour and then swim for at least half an hour, more if i can manage it.
Hope everyone else is doing well. look forward to reading about your progress.

AdrianHi, thanks for your post. :A Yes, it is fat and inches that I want to lose. The number on the scales doesn't bother me so much (well, maybe a little bit - I have put on 1.5 stone and it's not muscle! :o).

Interesting point about fruit. I know that it doesn't satisfy hunger very well, but I eat it more for enjoyment and vitamins than anything else. I don't drink fruit juice as I like to get the fibre as well as the sugar. Still, you do have a point on the sugar content. So what to do?

As for the cake, there is absolutely NO excuse for that. :o I am very weak willed at the moment and maybe I need to ask myself why. I used to have such a good diet and I let it go over the last 2-3 years. I need to get back into that mindset. But how is the question...

Any suggestions on diet and exercise would be gratefully received.

What do you think of whey protein shakes? I was thinking of buying some to have mid-afternoon to stave off the snack attacks.

binkyboo, you are doing so well! :D

p.s. why can't your OH and DD pack for themselves? You shouldn't be doing all the hard work. What age is your DD?

A shattered Dragon here! Two nights without sleep because I needed to be up bright and early yesterday morning and this morning and I was scared of oversleeping so just didn't sleep , I dread to think what the scales will be like on Saturday (if I can find some to weigh in on!) as I was out at the pub last night for dinner and we are out there again tomorrow night as we have a good friend coming to stay with her new partner. This means that Saturday will be spent in Cambridge with too much walking for me and pain killers, but it will be nice to spend time with them - I have only one pound to go for this month - I really hope I achieve it!

Oh Dr Dragon hopefully is going to find out if Boots in the centre of Cambridge has a set of scales!

Whey protein shakes are used by body builders to bulk up so are you sure that is what you want?
