And massive well done to all you looooooosers!! :T:j Especially you Dragon - you deserve a special mention for your steely determination!!
I weighed in a wee bit lighter this morning - but since my official WI is now Wednesday (Are you hopefully Binky?) - I'll not tempt fate by posting anything before then!
Eating-wise - I wasn't too bad over the weekend, avoided the booze which I think is my main downfall! It's not so much just the calories from the alcohol that's the problem - it's the hangover munchies the following day that do the most damage!
I need to get holiday shopping next week, so I'm gonna have a last ditch effort this week and see what I can achieve!
Tara - Well done on refusing the biccie - one of the reps in our work has just popped in with a round of Strawberry tarts for us all - but I will be strong and leave mine in it's box!!I'll have a wee cup of peppermint tea instead!
Had a wee boost over the weekend, my big sis was up visiting and I haven't seen her since Christmas - I overheard her and my bro talking about much weight I've lost - they said I'm back to looking like I did was I 18:D
xx
PS Binky - are you feeling any better?
I also had a sneaky look this morning and i think i'm still on track for wednesdays weigh in but no where near as much as i wanted thanks to being poorly putting me off exercising and lack of food i think has done me more harm than good! My medicine is starting to kick in so i'm feeling a bit better. I too had a family do yesterday and people mentioned i looked like i had lost weight, it makes you feel good doesn't it!
I do think though that it is my dieting and exercise that has made me get run down which in turn has given me these problems with my mouth so i need to work out what went wrong there and try to make sure i don't let it happen again because it has not been a pleasant experience.0 -
Dragon - that place in Wales looks fab!
crapwithmoney, well done on the strawberry tart! Enjoy your mint tea - you've just put me in the mood for one too.Have fun shopping for your holiday, and congrats on the compliments - they really make it all worthwhile!!
Has anyone else had a LBM re weight (or am I the last)? I am embarrassed at how long it's taken me to realise how much weight I've actually gained and how awful I look. Can we make a list of healthy and satisfying/filling snacks? I would like to stop grazing altogether but it is difficult.
I can only think of:
Oatcakes (if you eat one and not half a dozen like me!)
Fruit - esp. 'work-friendly'/portable fruits like apples, oranges, plums, berries, clementines, peaches, grapes (aren't they quite high in sugar though?), bananas (I would like to eat more bananas, I find them quite hard to eat!)
Nuts (again, 2 or 3 and not half a bagful!)

Tara - I find banana's quite hard to eat too - they almost give me a sore stomach if I have them too late in the day. If I'm eating them now, I have them first thing in the morning with a pint of water - fills me right up 'til lunch!
Snacks:
Crackerbreads - only 19 calories a slice and uber yummy!! I'm a big bread person, and find the crackerbreads are a much better alternative!
Lowfat jelly / Yoghurts (Can even mix some fresh fruit through the yoghurts, put it in an ice lolly maker and freeze it - handy wee snack for all those hot days that are surely heading our way this summer!!)
low Calorie hot chocolate - not quite a snack as such, but if it's made with milk I find it's quite filling and also calms the "sweet" craving
The mint tea actually works for me as well - I find if I'm craving something sweet after dinner (which I often do) the mint tea takes it away!
Hhhhmmmmmm - not sure what else - I'll get my thinking cap on!
xx
PS Tara, yeah I did have a LBM re: the weight, but it was away back last year - hence the 1.5 stone I've gradually shifted! mine was on a day out with OH, went to see an old castle, had a gazillion steps to climb to get back to the car (ok - maybe not quite a gazillion - but it felt like it at the time!) and I was majorly out of breath, and very embarassed in front of OH - it was pretty much then, I decided it had to change - which I suppose wasn't just about my weight, but it all went hand in hand for me.0 -
Tara - good to see you back! Hope you and OH sort things out for the best hun.
I had a big blow out yesterday - sick kid, TOTM and 2 weeks without any junk food obviously got to me! Had a Snickers for brekkie, fried fishfingers and fries for lunch and a penguin with a cup of tea for a snack! Have not had that much carp for a few weeks and didn't even enjoy it much coz i knew i was eating rubbish.
So i won't be doing that againin a hurry...
Weighed myself today and still at 12st 10 which means i didn't lose anything this week which i will put down to TOTM and no swimming which is still my only real proper excercise. Will hopefully be able to get back to it from Wednesday.
Am planning to get the full 7 pounds this month - at last!0 -
I'd say I've had several LBM's to do with weight.
The most recent one was going to a conference in Jan. Where we were staying was up a hill and it killed me to get back to where we were staying every night. Red face, completely, completely out of breath and it took me sooooooo much longer than everyone else - often ~10 people waiting (or giving up on waiting) for me as they bounded up the small hill with no problems.:o It was so humiliating. Never again... The conference is on every 2 yrs so if I get the chance to go again in 2 yrs time I will be fit enough to do that hill without keeling over!
I've not put on any weight since then but only lost really slowly until just over a month ago when I started my 101 in 1001 days challenge. I saw on someone else's list "loose 7lb a month for a year" so have that as one of my challenges too as it seemed a reasonable but realistic rate for me given how much I need to loose.
Also I decided to put walk the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu as one of my 101 challenges. Machu Picchu is somewhere I'd love to go and you can get there by train but ever since seeing the trail on a travel prog years ago I really would like to get there by walking the Inca Trail.
Sadly I'm in no way fit enough to even contemplate this so that is my goal in 2011 - be in shape enough to do this! I just need to loose ... ummmm... half my bodyweight and get fit enough to cope with things like 1500 steps and a rather mountainous trek at altitude...:eek::eek::eek: I now have pics of Machu Picchu everywhere (including on my fridge, desktop PC at home, MP3 player and will have one in my purse too when my parents find their laminator) to remind me of my target and what I want to achieve.Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Taka - That sounds like a pretty amazing incentive! Maybe we should all come up with something like that to aim for to spur us on along the way..........0

The only problem is when OH is cooking he has no concept of 'low fat' - ie he'll do a healthy, yummy veg stew but use a very large slug of oil to cook the onions - adding about 4/5 WW points to my portion! He eats healthily most of the time so doesn't need to watch his cals but I have a sweet tooth so do!
I meant to say, lightisfading - you could have been writing about my OH in that quote above!!! He always cooks the full fat version of everything, it would never occur to him to 'substitute' like I would. And he glugs the oil into everything! Gah!
Taka - your incentive sounds amazing! You will definitely reach your goal with that aim in mind. Fair play to you.
Thanks for the snack ideas ladies, keep 'em coming! I have never eaten crackerbread, must try it.
plzhelpmesave, don't worry about giving into the junk food yesterday. It sounds as if you've been doing really well so one slip-up isn't too bad. With TOTM and a sick child you need to be nice to yourself, so just let it go and focus on the rest of the week xo
I am craving a snack right now, must wait till I get home for dinner (OH is cooking, think it's lasagne tonight). I'm going to buy myself some nice salad leaves to have with it. And that's another thing! With trying to be a good little moneysaver, I have probably cut back on healthy stuff the last few months as it is so expensive. (does anyone else do this?) But it is going to stop. I don't mind spending an extra few ££ on food every month if it's the right food and good for me (and helping me lose weight).
Goodness, I am having several LBMs today, more of an electrical storm really! :rotfl:Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Afternoon folks - and well done to all who have lost this week!! Had my WI this morning and I have put on 1 lb
I'm sooo gutted I really don't know how its happened. I haven't had any massive blow outs or snack attacks or anything. I don't know what I'm doing wrong....my OH is a gym instructor and reckons I might not be eating enough calories and that's what's caused my weight gain which sounds a bit backwards if you ask me, I may as well gorge on crisps and chocolate if that's how its gonna work!
:rotfl:
My shoulder is still aching so I can't do any proper exercise which is a pain as I really need to get rid of my bingo-wings...no way I'm bearing these in vest tops on hols. I had my LBM a couple of days ago, I was wandering around the house in bra and knickers, bent over to pick up something from the floor and glanced in the full length mirror and saw about 4 tummies hanging down, it really wasn't pleasant and the thought of parading that around the pool makes me feel ill
As far as snacks go I always find a banana fills me up much more than other fruit will, I've been eating rice cakes as well (with a bit of philly light if it starts to taste a bit cardboardy) I'm a bit of a bread junkie as well so I find these a good substitute. In the hot weather I have a nice supply of icepops and yoghurts in my freezer which do for a pick-me-up.All the coffee in Columbia won't make me a morning person...
