:j Woo Hoo! I've lost 3lbs in the last week! :j

I thought it was going to be hideous as I had a bit of a blow out on Wed and really didn't eat healthily on Friday either... :j

  • Well done Taka - just shows how many healthier choices you must be making overall if you can still have a couple of blow outs and keep losing! - Well done!! :D:j:T

OK so I was around for some of the earlier challenges and managed to lose a few lbs although I've put it all back on again since. it's been just so busy at work that ...well yadda yadda yadda there are always excuses I guess. I'm now 12.8 with a bmi of 32.2 which is not good. I've already lost a couple of pounds thanks to my v kind neighbour dragging me out for a walk of an evening. But def need to lose another 5 in June. Can I rejoin please :)

    My strategies are:
Keep up the walking (at least 1hr per day)
Go to the gym to do weights three times a week
    No booze!!
No sweets, choc, ice cream or other stuff of the same ilk
Cheese only as part of a meal not a snack.

I know this sounds a bit drastic but I find it's easier to go for a total lifestyle makeover than to tinker round the edges. I'm determined to lose weight before I go on holiday in September - not because I'm worried about posing in a bikini but because it's very hilly and hot and dragging round an extra stone and a half is a bad bad idea....fingers crossed.

Sounds like you guys have all been doing really really well! Well done! I hope it rubs off.

Wowzas that looks like a tough call but if it works for you! Oh and you are now on the list of glory :D:rotfl:

Weigh in today and I am 10st 13lbs! That's -2lbs :j! I am very pleased as it's totm, but I've tried pretty hard this week. I'm a bit worried though as that's my walking challenge over and I have been walking 10-15 miles a week on top of going to the gym. I am considering trying to take up running as I don't want all that walking training to go to waste. I might give it a bash tomorrow with the couch to 5k thingy on itunes.

Big WELL DONE to everyone who has lost or stayed the same, what a good first week of the month we've had :T!

Yeah you might be right Binky - I actually can't imagine ever looking at my body and thinking "I'm happy with what I weigh". Is anyone else the same?

How did everyone decide what their target weight was? And when do you decide enoug's enough?

My first target was to get under 11 stone, which I did fairly quickly, then I wanted to get my BMI into 22.something - which I've now done - then I wanted to get into a size 10 - which I've done (just about - some cheaper clothes I still need the 12) - now I'm actually quite happy with how I look when I have my clothes on (a guy at work recently told me I had an amazing body?!:rolleyes:) - but I'm still totally obsessed with my stomach and the fact it's not perfectly flat - but then - even when I was a size 6 (and far too skinny), I still had a wee bean bag belly - so maybe it's just not possible for me to get rid of it?
Please don't take this the wrong way but maybe you have now reached what should have been the target weight for you? Particularly if you are struggling to loose any more. I don't think even supermodels like everything about their bodies!

Is it actually your body/weight you are unhappy with or something else in your life? I'm not asking this to be nasty - it is something I am horribly guilty of myself. :o I end up getting obsessed by "my life will be perfect/better when..." type thoughts which are really not very helpful to me! Chances are, even if I meet whatever target, I'll still not be happy as that is not the thing thats stopping me being happy! Weight and my body are definitely ones for me.

I've purposely not set a target weight as I've been clinically/morbidly obese for so long I don't what would be the best for me. I've had an eating disorder on and off for ~20 yrs (last set of treatment ended in Feb this year) now so I need to be really careful with the targets I make for myself, why and how I'm doing this. I'd be happy with a healthish BMI and being a 1000 times fitter than now... ok at least be able walk up a small hill without looking like I've just completed a heavy workout! :o :rotfl: My 1st major target is to no longer be classed as clinically/morbidly obese - even to reach that it'll take me several months  which is why a target of 7lb loss a month is a nice sized smalller target for me!

    Hello me again!

Thanks for all your kind words today. CWM, Im not on a specific plan at all just eating better than I was before and in the evening I add up the points values in my head to make sure im under my allowance (this is something I do subconsciously after years on&off WW).;)

    Todays food

    B : 2 x brown toast ; half a can of beans

L : loads of stir fry veg ; prawns ; soy sauce & chilli flakes

D : Liver and bacon with colcannon ready meal with brussell sprouts

S : Cadburys fudge (my treat lol)

What is everyone else eating today? I feel like Im boring you all to death with my menus lol.

    My menu

    B - 50g porridge oats, 10 g dried fruit, semi skimmed milk

L - quarter of a lettuce, 1 pepper, 10 cherry toms, 1 tablespoon salad cream

D - Pork stir fry (200g roast pork, decent amount chard, hoisan sauce, rice - between myself and Dr Dragon)

That will take me to about 600 kcals :o - so I will either have a sandwich or a boiled egg or something to get me over a thousand!

  • My Menu:

B: 2 slices WW W/meal toast (spread with Flora Extra Light), with 2 slices cold meat ham.
    S: 2 fingers Short bread :o
L: Sandwich (2slices w/meal bread, spread with low-fat cream cheese, cold meat ham and slices of tomato). Slice of Melon, Shape fat free yoghurt
D: Probably a stir fry - but just whatever's quickest to make as don't have long between getting home from work and leaving again to go to Salsa class.

Not really a typical day diet-wise for me - mum's away so the cupboard's are bare at home since I haven't had time to shop, and I'm in the office alone at work today since the other woman phoned in sick - so I had to make do with what there was in the canteen downstairs.! :D

Hi Taka - thanks for taking the time to write such a thoughtful, frank reply. A lot of what you've said does ring true - I'm so sorry you've had such a tough time of it over the years with your battles with food.

I think what you've said has put things into perspective for me a bit - I don't suppose anyone is ever truly 100% happy with how they look - even I did manage to get to 9.5 stone - I'd probably only start that my boobs are too small/my nose's too big etc :rotfl:Maybe that's just part of being (an insecure) woman! :D

Good luck with the challenge - 7lbs at a time is definitely the way to go - makes it seem a lot more achieveable somehow!

    xx
