Gaz...IF you take the time and READ the thread again you'll see people are having trouble with cards starting with the prefix 4508 badged as a "visa debit" BUT still acting as an electron...IF your card isnt one of the 4508 ones then your lucky...please refrain from the sarky posts as this is a very very sore point with some people
and as far as electron being phased out? i'd be interested where you get your information from because as others have said thats NOT the case...i've mentioned this to a freind who works alongside visa UK & she's said a different story
and this is from the visa direct site....NO mention of the card being phased out0 -

IF what previous poster has said turns out to be indeed correct then i'm more than happy for them and others who faced the same probs I did when I held a co-op account...
Oh and I can play perfectly nice thank you
You tell me who will read a post in a thread and then go and read the whole 20 pages of the thread before replying and Ill show you a liar. You read a post and reply to it, now get off your high horse0 -

oh well pardon me Gaz I bow to your greatness...should you wish to continue the insults and tantrums this is neither the time or place....i'll be happy to continue this via email or PM
and at no time have I been on my "high horse" other posters have answered you saying the same as I did beforehand yet you dont seem to want to attack them....wonder why?
at NO time have I been sarky towards you...just stating a fact (as most of my posts do....some people even thank me for taking the time)We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -

Sorry, was trying to lighten the mood. It's obviously a misunderstanding above. I'm sure neither of you meant to insult the other.
Now Drop it or PeachyPrice will chastise you both.Look down your nose at me and I thumb my nose back at you.

Has anyone actually spoken to the CO-OP bank about this card lately as to clarification over the situation? if so ...what did they say..do they concede that these cards are just Visa Electron cards in disguise with similar limited use?
I mean I've not tried mine to buy shopping on line at Tesco's but i have to say I'm a little apprehensive in using it at all to be honest, does it get refused anywhere else NOT on line?
By the way sorry to bring the thread back on to topic!!0 -
IF the card has the prefix "4508" then most places that refused an electron card WILL refuse this new "visa" debit card as well
someone did speak to the co-op a few posts back...I called myself as well as writing & they seem to blame the shops etc that refuse the card saying its not the co-op's faultWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0
