So I guess Tesco delivered my shopping this week for free then because I used my Co Op card from my Cashminder account :rotfl:

    .....yawn....

Gaz...IF you take the time and READ the thread again you'll see people are having trouble with cards starting with the prefix 4508 badged as a "visa debit" BUT still acting as an electron...IF your card isnt one of the 4508 ones then your lucky...please refrain from the sarky posts as this is a very very sore point with some people

and as far as electron being phased out? i'd be interested where you get your information from because as others have said thats NOT the case...i've mentioned this to a freind who works alongside visa UK & she's said a different story
Visa Electron: Visa Electron is ideal for customers with newer banking relationships or in countries that require all transactions to be authorized. Authorization can be either PIN- or signature-based. Internet transactions can also be supported, at the issuer’s discretion. Visa Electron is accepted at any Visa merchant location with an electronic authorization terminal, throughout the Visa global ATM network and at telephone and Internet merchants accepting Visa.
PLUS: Used around the world as the Visa global ATM mark, PLUS gives cardholders access to their funds in local currencies at ATMs worldwide. The PLUS mark can be added to a bank’s ATM card, allowing it to extend this global ATM convenience and its brand to its existing customer base.

and this is from the visa direct site....NO mention of the card being phased out

Now now, lets be nice children.

I don't know if electron card is being phased out or not but there has been a long running thread on another part of the forum about it and that thread seems to think electron is being phased out.

Now before anyone decides to take my head off I'm just repeating what info I've seen elsewhere on this forum.

4508 is still an electron card though even if it has raised numbers.

One good thing about the electron card is I've saved £20 on a Ryan Air ticket this week as they charge that amount for using any other credit/debit card. So not all bad!

IF what previous poster has said turns out to be indeed correct then i'm more than happy for them and others who faced the same probs I did when I held a co-op account...
Oh and I can play perfectly nice thank you

I tried last night to pay for my tesco.com order with my electron and then my 'visa debit' and neither worked! I am just going to have to see if my prepaid paypal card will work!

It sounds like part of the authorisation system has gone down.
