Hi,
Has anyone bought a conservatory from canterbury conservatories that sell outside B&Q?. Just had them out and they have gave us a good price. But as I have never heard of them before, Iam not sure if to take a chance on them.
Anyone give me any info on them?.

Hi, I would say if you want a conservatory try a local independent window company that has lots of local experience rather than one of these national companies that employ 'sales people' and offer you supposedly huge discounts.
You would be much better of going with a decent independent company where probably the owner would come round to measure up and also probably be the man in charge on site when building it to.
Good luck.0 -
Had good price by Canterbury Conservatories, signed agrreement, paid deposit at Easter had survey and now delay, delay, delay, dont phone back when they say they will and now today after two weeks of waiting for a install date they say they have under priced the job and its another £3000. Now don't know what to do but have garden dug up ready for the new patio. What a nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

I assume you've asked them to return your deposit then?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Says it all, a good company would honour their price.0

Had the survey and the price has stayed the same. The footings went in today all is going well.0

So is your conservatory complete? Where in the country are you?
I'd like to know what surveyer etc you had because it seems that is where the problems arrised.
We agreed price increase because finance package so good and footings went in last Saturday only to discover the conservatory is smaller than we discussed. They had measured wrong. Now we are in further dispute and have stopped the work until sorted. Since discovered all window sizes are different (widths accross) and i'm not happy. Today waiting for phone call -Still waiting!
So much for my conservatory being complete by beginning of June!!!!!!!0 -
Hi was this issue resolved?
The reason I ask is I am looking in to getting a conservatory & found these guys at B&Q as there set up looked very professional & tidy. A guy came round with all the sales talk & seemed to know what he was talking about. However he did seem to want to push me in to a sale with talk about special offers for glass in the roof that keeps the heat in during the winter & the heat out during the summer. I declined to sign anything as I needed a few months to sort finances out. He since returned upon on my request & again seemed very helpful & gave a talk on how he managed to get the same deal for me even though the original offer was no longer available.
I have since asked two local conservatory & window companies to come round. One came last night & basically have made me think twice about Canterbury. These local guys were so professional & went in to so much detail about roof vents, under floor heating & minor details I had not even considered. Canterbury on the other hand now look like they just want a sell. Canterbury are very appealling with there price & finance offers, I have yet to have a quote from the local company.
One of the points highlighted to me was the footings & foundations in my local area which I am told is red brick clay after half a metre of digging. They advised that my foundations should be at least 1 metre. They expressed a good knowledge & experience of the ground in the area which is something that concerns me with a national company. Also Canterbury insist I must pay an additional £500 for planning permission for a conservatory that is more than 3 metres on a semi detached house. This is something that the local comapny have said is complete rubbish, no planning permission is required as my conservatory will be less than 52 sq cubic metres & is not less than 20 meters from the closest road & my house has not been extended before.
I would be interested to hear of anyone elses experience with Canterbury Conservatories.0 -

Would get you the very best consevatory avalable in this country for that price....with total impartial advice....
Personally,I take my customers out for the day to 3or4 different jobs that we have done...and encourage them to talk to my old clients...
Insist on this...not just one....
Look its like this,if you where buying a nice second hand Mercedes, you would maybe look at 3...you might travel to SOUTHAMPTON,SOUTH END..OR NORTH LONDON.....the point is if they are local..then see the previous project...dont be the first of thier efforts...
